Blusón para Pinito del Oro. A Little Circus Tunic

Me habia sobrado un poco de tela de haber forrado las mochilas de los niños el año pasado, pero era tan alegre que no he podido resistir hacerle algo a la peque.

I had some scraps of fabric, leftovers from lining my children school-bags last year. But it was such a happy fabric I just couldn´t resist making something for my daughter.

The white yoke is also a scrap from the only proyect I ever made from Espejito, Espejito. here

He usado el patron 146 del Burda 05/2012, que ya me habia servido para hacer este top

No hay necesidad de cierre atras. Cabe la cabeza de sobra

 

I used the 146 pattern from Burda 05/2012, I already used to make this top 

No need to cut to pieces in the back to place buttons. A head fits through the hole just fine.

Lo terminé con bies en el cuello y le puse bies con cordón. Y, claro, costuras francesas. Es que ya las meto en todo lo que puedo, por que no tengo remalladora y el zigzag me pone los pelos de punta.

I finished the neck with bias tape, piping in the yoke seam, and french seams all over. I use those frenchies whenever I can, as I haven´t got a seger and I like the inside looking almost as nice as the outside.

Burda 09/2012 The 60´s and the 70´s

 

Muchas gracias a todas las que me habeis avisado que salia en el Burda de septiembre con dos fotos.Es un honor compartir página con tan buenas costureras.

I want to thank those who told me two of my creations were  featured in the September Burda (Spanish issue) It was an honour to share the page with such great seamstresses.

 

Sin embargo a mi se me siguen amontonando las revistas, sin que pueda empezar a coser. Algun patron he sacado, pero solo eso. A ver si cuando empiece el cole!

Still, Burda issues are piling up and I´m not sewing anything from them, I traced some patterns waiting for a sewing-friendly enviroment to come, maybe when school starts?

 

Siempre estoy dando la lata con que Septiembre suele ser el mas que más me gusta de la revista, y despues de ver este, reitero lo dicho.

I´m always saying my favourite Burda Month is September and this year is no exception.

Os muestro los modelos por orden de preferencia.

Esta chaqueta frac es mi favorita. Util:no. Ponible: no. Pero me encanta.

¿Alguien me puede decir con qué ponerse esto ademas de con unos pitillos vaqueros?

This Tuxedo jacket is my favourite. Useful:no, wearable: no. I love it!

Can anybody tell me what to mix it with besides the skinny jeans?

 

Parka 129.Tres pelotas y media de dificultad. Pero esto si es más ponible. La chaqueta de arriba tambien es de la misma categoria.

This parka, lined with knit is more wearable, but it´s rated as difficult as the tuxedo.



 

Este vestido viene en tres versiones. A mi me gusta la corta, para compensar las mangas largas. Este hay que hacerlo porque: 1- es facil, 2- viene el patron rosa 3- instrucciones con dibujos en el taller de costura.

This dress comes in three versions. I like the shorter one to compensate the long sleeve and the boxiness of it. It´s easy, the pattern is highlighted and there are step by step instructions with drawings! (I´m very visual). I mean, it´s a must!

 

Estamos de suerte: El cursillo de costura de este mes es para hacerte este abrigo, para mi gusto mejor hacerse una gabardina. Bueno, es monisimo de todas formas

A stroke of luck! This month´s sewing course features this coat that to me would look better as a trench coat. Pretty, useful, love it too!

Me encanta este vestido, para el verano. Soy muy friolera y en invierno muy raramente llevo vestidos o faldas.

I like this dress a lot, for the summer. In winter I rarely wear dresses or skirts.

Al menos esta monada no me estresa por que ya tengo uno igual (Vogue 8489)

At least I won´t get stressed about finding the time to make this one, as I already have it (Vogue 8489)

 

 

Este vestido me parece comodisimo, aunque el estampado daría a mis alumnos dolor de cabeza.

Cuello caja con canesu en los hombros. Veo posibilidades creativas.Pero por favor otro estampado! con dos pelotas...de dificultad.

This one too, with shoulder yokes, has a lot of potential. In a different print, please.Easy too. 

Si que me veo como la version "adulta" de esta chica parka!

Burda 06/2012 modelo 139 My Version

Hola! No he vuelto realmente, todavia de vacaciones (2 meses , cosa de profes) No he cosido nada para mi. Con esto de las reuniones familiares, mantener ocupados a los niños, y no tener un lugar donde “crear”, he dejado la aguja, el blogeo y tambien de preocuparme de la dichosa conexión de internet, que no habia modo de seguir vuestros blogs, y me he dedicado a la vida contemplativa… incluso he leido un libro! “Dime quien soy” y estoy con otro de Kate Morton muy interesante.

Hello! I´m not really back, still on holiday ( 2 months already, teacher´s luck!) and I haven´t sewn anything for myself. What with family gatherings, children to keep busy, and not having a proper place to “create”, I gave up the sewing and the blogging, stop fretting about internet conections and just watched life unfolding…I even read a book!  And I´m now with the second, one of Kate Morton´s.

Aquí en mi ciudad natal tengo a una de mis mejores amigas de los tiempos del instituto.Ana es como una hermana para mi, junto con Sonia, protagonistas de muchas aventuras de juventud y más . A las dos las quiero mucho, muchisimo…pero Sonia tiene maquina de coser y es una manitas y Ana no….tiene maquina. (Ajem) Así que me dio por hacerla un bluson con una tela preciosa bordada que tenia, lo malo es que tuve que hacer una version más sencilla por falta de metros.

Here in my hometown lives one of my best friends from High School. She is like a sister to me together with our other partner in many teenage crimes, Sonia. I love both to bits, only Sonia owns a sewing machine and has very crafty hands, and Ana doesn´t….own a machine. So I thought of making a tunic for Ana with a lovely embroided fabric I had, but  I had to simplify as the yardage was not enough.

El modelo es el 139 del Burda de Junio 2012. Lleva pinzas en el pecho, y una manguita con pliegue en el centro. Está terminada con bies, y costura francesa.

I used Burda 06/2012 # 139. It has darts, a little sleeve with a pleat. I finished it with bias tape and french seams.

Paquete Viajero

Soy la persona con las vacaciones más largas del mundo. Tanto, tanto que el paquete viajero llegó y yo no estaba en mi casa para recibirlo. Así que tuvo que cruzar España para poder seguir viajando, cortesía de mi marido que SI estaba en casa. Mi marido es así de saleroso, que no tiene tiempo para nada y sin embargo lo sacó para ir a correos.
Bueno, pues cuando llegó, nuestra amiga Rosi de Manualidades a Tutiplen me habia dejado estos regalitos. Me encantan!
Peeero, claro. Yo no estoy en casa y aqui tengo la maquina de coser, dos telas y cuatro hilos, con lo cual no he cogido nada del paquete ni he podido dejar nada a cambio, solo un regalito para Gloria, de  El Arca de Glops
Tampoco he sido capaz de hacer una entrada en el Blog El Paquete Viajero
Hace semanas que he tirado la toalla con poder seguir todos vuestros blogs, o el mio propio, ya que mi conexion es un poco...azín.
En fin, ha sido un poco decepcionante por que en casa si tenia cositas que le podrian haber servido a alguien. Para la proxima. Un beso

Burda 08/2012 Buenisima. Great Issue!

Estoy que no cojo una aguja. La culpa es del verano y no de mi falta de ganas. Pero aunque no haya hecho nada, la obsesion es la obsesion y sigo pensando en lo que quiero coser, y reviso patrones compulsivamente.
Imagino que ya todas teneis vuestro Burda de Agosto y habeis visto la cantidad de patrones buenísimos que hay, ¿los miramos juntas?

I´m not sewing anything at the moment. Blame it on the summer because I really feel like it. I browse through patterns and magazines compulsively looking for thing I would like to be making.

A lot of people have already their August Burda issue, and you´ve seen what a lot of great patterns are in this one, but I want to discuss them with you.

Empiezo por este vestido. Me encantan las lineas. Y además la gran Irene Bullock ya tiene su versión que le ha quedado preciosa.
Let´s start with this dress. Nice lines! The great Irene Bullock has her version of it and it looks so good it makes me want to start sewing it right now.

En la portada aparece este modelo amarillo de falda y top con peplum. Mucho han tardado los del Burda en unirse a esta moda.
On the front page appears this peplum number, it´s a top and a skirt, I wonder how Burda took so long to jump in the peplum wagon

Pero a mi me gusta mucho mas esta version, con manga larga.

El patron vintage del mes es este, pero en popelin, no me convence nada.

Hace algunos días ya (mis felicitaciones a los señores de correos) me ha llegado un regalo de Mari Cruz, mi encantadora amiga de Dedal, Aguja e Hilo. Resulte la felicisisima ganadora del patron de la falda Portefeulle, y no me he atrevido aun a sacarla del plástico, por si Atila y los Hunos deciden hacer algo con ello, (Atila sería mi enano y los Hunos, bueno, la Huna, mi enana)
Tambien he tenido que guardar a buen recaudo el contenido del sobre sorpresa, con esas tijeras tan monas, y el metro ya viaja en mi bolso para tomar medidas a lo que se ponga por delante.
Me encanta el blog de Mari Cruz porque se nota que ella SI va a clases de costura como tienen que ser, un beso guapa! Y perdona por haber tardado tanto en enseñar mi regalo...problemas tecnicos, ya sabes!

Some day ago I received a fantastic present from my charming friend Mari Cruz of Dedal, Aguja e Hilo. I was the winner of her Paco Peralta give away, and I got the Portefeuille skirt. It´s so precious I´m afraid of taking it out of its envelope! She was so kind as to enclose an extra surprise: a very cool measure tape and very cute little scissors. Thank you Mari Cruz! Lots of love!

Operacion Bikini

 

Este año no podia pasar sin hacerme mi propio bañador o bikini. Me descargué el patron del Bañador Alison y empecé a trabajar con él pero no me convencian las instrucciones, y lo de imprimir los patrones en casa... el cuadrado de prueba siempre es ligeramente inferior a 10 cm. No me la juego.

Al final cambie de idea y decidi ver como se hace un bikini. En otras palabras, desarmé uno viejo. Y aprendi mucho desarmandolo

This year I had to make bathers: swimsuit or bikini, that was not importart. I downloaded the Alison pattern and started working with it but I didn´t find the instructions very easy. On the other hand, the printing test square was slightly smaller than it should be. I wasn`t convinced.

Also I had doubts about how to insert the elastic. So I forgot about Alison and deconstructed an old bikini instead. That was very enlightening.

 

Descubrí que el elástico va remallado al borde de los cantos, luego una vuelta hacia adentro y cosido con puntada zig-zag larga y ancha.
Saqué el patrón de ese mismo biquini, alargando la parte donde se ata la parte de arriba para hacerle una lazada. Le añadí un margen de costura de 1 cm, ya que mi elástico es de 0,50 cm

I discovered that the elastic is serged to the seam allowance and then it is folded inwards and sewed with a long and wide zig-zag stitch.
I used the old bikini to get my pattern making the back of the top longer to tie it in a bow and add 1cm seam allowance as my elastic is 0,50 cm

Una cosa sobre el elástico: me ha costado encontrar uno que no fuera muy fuerte. Los que solemos utilizar tienen los hilos elásticos muy juntos y están muy tupidos. El resultado es que, al coser, quedaba la costura ondulada y deforme. Con este queda mejor.

One thing about the elastic. The one we usually get here is very closed knitted rows of elastic, as a result, when sewed the seams get weavy. I found this "softer" elastic that works much better.

Empecé haciendo la braguita, que resultó bastante facil... despues de los consejos de Carolyn quee me dijo que hiciera pruebas con la longitud y anchura de la puntada. La combinacion que funcionó para mi es: zig-zag 6 - 3.5.
Le puse un poco de forro, por si acaso.

I started sewing the bottom part. It was quite easy after Carolyn´s advise to try different lengths and widths of zig zag stitch. The one that worked for me was 6 - 3.5.

I lined it partially .

Para la parte de arriba compre una argolla metálica y me hice con un metro de "ballena" que recorté a a la longitud que necesitaba y limé para que no pinchara despues.

For the upper part I bought a metallic flat ring and I also bought boning for the sides.

Despues de juntar las piezas, coser el elástico. Lo último cerrar alrededor de la argolla.

After the pieces are sewn together, I sew the elastic. The last thing I did was sew it around the ring as close as I could.
