The Hepburn Proyect

De nuevo por aquí. Me da por rachas.
No sé si conoceis este reto de RHINESTONES AND TELEPHONES. Se trata de crear algo inspirandote en alguna de las dos Hepburn: Audrey y Katharine. A mi me gustan las dos. Mi madre es una cinéfila impenitente y desde pequeñita me expuso a las películas clásicas, desde los años 30 hasta los 60 creo que las he visto casi todas.  Mis favoritas además de estas dos grandes son Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner...solo por nombrar algunas.
Lo mejor de este reto es que no tiene fecha límite. A mi me viene estupéndamente. A ver si para otoño hago otras cositas para Kate.

I bet you know about the RHINESTONES AND TELEPHONES challenge. It is about creating garments inspired by one or both Hepburns: Audrey and Katharine. I like them both a lot! My mother who is mad about the movies has exposed me, since I was very little, to all the classics. From the 30´s to the 60´s. My favourite actreses, style-wise are both Hepburns, Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner...just to name a few.
The best part of this challenge is that it has no dead-line. Great! See if I can sew for Kate next Autumn!

TOP BLANCO Y CORTO & SHORTS A RAYAS

WHITE CROP TOP & STRIPED SHORTS

He escogido dos looks bastante parecidos, la verdad. Top y shorts. Me viene estupendamente, porque aunque me gusten mucho los vestidos en verano, la verdad es que llevo más este tipo de atuendo. Comodidad ante todo.

I´ve chosen two very similar looks, truth to be told. Top and shorts. They come in very handy as that what I usually wear during the summer. I love dresses, but I normally wear them in the afternoons and evenings.

Los shorts son del Burda 6/2011 # 111. Ya he hecho unas cuantas versiones de este patrón. Me gustan porque van hasta la cintura y luego son un poco "evasé"

These shorts are Burda 6/2011 #111. I´ve made three versions of it. I like how they go up to the waist and then they are a bit flared.

La camisa es un "frankenpattern" con mi patrón base de las clases de Craftsy, y los cuello y bolsillos de una camisa de Patrones.

The shirt is a "frankenpatter" with my Cratsy sloper and the neckband and pockets from a Patrones shirt.

Es una prueba de copia de una camisa muy mona que tiene mi hija, quiero hacer una versión en vichy azul y blanco. Las extensiones para anudar han quedado un poco "raquíticas" pero eso se soluciona facil. El resto creo que está bastante bien.

This is a mock version of a shirt I want to copy. It is my daughter´s. I want to make a Vichy version in white and blue. The extensions to knot the shirt are too thin, now that I see the photos. That´s easy to solve. The rest I think is quite nice.

Un detalle de los cuellos y bolsillos. El cuello está arrugadillo porque todo esto iba metido en la bolsa de la playa de cualquier manera...

A detail of the neck band and pockets. The neckband is all wrinkly because the whole outfit was inside the beach bag for a long time. 

CAMISA A CUADROS & SHORTS LISOS

PLAID SHIRT & SOLID SHORTS

Compré esta tela para hacer una camisa a algún hombre de la familia, pero luego me dí cuenta de que me quedé corta de metraje. Bueno, mejor para mi, jiji!

I bought this fabric to make a shirt to a random man of the family but I realized I had not enough. Good for me!

Este es el patrón que usé. El frente y la espalda van al bies, y no lleva pinzas en el pecho, eso al principio me daba un poco de cosilla, pero claro, si la tela está al bies, se adapta mejor.

This is the pattern I used. The front and back are on the bias, and it hasn´t got bust darts, as the fabric adapts to the body when it is on the bias.

Siento no tener mejores fotos, pero esto  es lo que hay últimamente. 

Esta camisa me la he puesto ya un montón de veces.

CONSEJO 2 PARA BLOGI-FOTOS: FOTO-BOMBERS

ADVISE Nº2 ON TAKING PHOTOS FOR YOUR BLOG: PHOTOBOMBERS

Si sois mamás y os haceis fotos con vuestros niños correteando por alrededor (cuando no tomando ellos mismos las fotos) os pasará muy a menudo que se os "cuelan" en las fotos.

Es divertido, supuestamente. Mi consejo: no luches contra eso. ¡Únete al enemigo! Cuando perciben que no te están fastidiando la sesión, si no que acoges su presencia de mil amores porque ellos son más importantes, pierden todo el interés. Ellos son así.

If you are a mum, and you have to take your photos with your little darlings around, more often than not, they´d want to get "in the picture"

It is fun to spoil your mum´s poses!. My advise: Don´t fight them...Join them! Once they perceived they are much more important than your silly photos, they loose all interest and they go catching crabs instead. My word!

Revista Patrones nº 333 y Encuentros Costureros

¡Feliz año a todas! Perdón por la desaparición navideña, creo que a casi todas nos ha pasado lo mismo.

Las nuestras han sido un poco tristes así que me alegro de que la rutina haya empezado de nuevo.

Como no tengo nada que enseñaros salvo un RENFREW al que todavía no he fotografiado y el resto de el tiempo lo he invertido en tejer cosas verdes y amorfas mejor os enseño la última Revista Patrones que compré. Es que era muy primaveral. No me pude resistir.

Happy new year! I apologize for my absence during the holidays. Ours were a bit sad so I´m happy to get back home and start with the routine again. I have nothing to show you except a RENFREW  I made before Christmas but hasn´t been photographed yet. The rest of the time I´ve been knitting green and shapeless things (I try really hard, but knitting and me are not getting along) To cheer myself up a bit I bought issue 333 of Patrones Magazine. So spring-y, I couldn´t resist it!

This issue could have been called "Easy fashion" or "Spring basics". You´ll see why..

El vestido es sencillito y la blusa mona, pero con muy poco futuro en mi armario.

The dress is simple and the blouse is cute but any of them have too much future in my closet.

El vestido 3 no puede ser más simple y seguro que del gusto de muchas, pero yo soy muy antigua y los bajos asimétricos no me gustan.

Dress 3 couldn´t be simpler, and even cute but I´m very old-fashioned and asymetrical hems are not my cup of tea.

4 y 5. Tanto la chaqueta como el mono-short van a mi lista para coser esta primavera. Preciosos.

4 and 5. Both the jacket and the short jumpsuit are going straight to my spring sewing list. 

6- Otro vestido asimétrico. No me lo haría pero me gustaría encontrar esa tela.

6- Another asymmetrical dress. Again not my style but I wish I could find that kind of fabric!

7 es un vestido sencillo con vaina y tirante muy facil de hacer y el top 8 y el pantalón 9 ni frío ni calor.

7 is a very easy dress to make and both top 8 and pants 9 leave me  indifferent

.

El blusón 10 tiene una pinta muy interesante, pero solo pensar en trabajar crepe de seda se me ponen los vellos como escarpias.

Number 10, the long blouse, has very interesting  lines but right now, thinking of working with silk crepé gives me the "creepés" ;P

Si me coso una camisa esta primavera será la número 12. Hay unos cuantos pantalones básicos en la revista. el 13 es uno de ellos.

If I decide to sew a shirt for this Spring it will be number 12. There are a lot of basic trousers in the magazine. Number 13 is one of them.

14,15,16 y 17 son cuatro básicos fantásticos y ahora necesito unos pantalones color turquesa.(Y una melena larga y negra..¡por pedir!)

14,15,16 and 17 are four fantastic basics and now I need turquoise trousers ( and a long black mane of hair)

Pasamos a las maxi faldas: la 19, bien, me gusta la cinturilla pero la 21, no tengo palabras.

Atención a los top que van con las maxis que hay algunos preciosos.

Maxi Skirts department. 19 is alright, I like the waistband detail but number 21? I´m speechless.

Pay attention to the tops with the maxi skirts, there are some pretty ones

Que os digo yo que Patrones está muy moderna. Otra vez falda corta por delante y larga por atrás. Para mi niña dentro de unos años y el top 24 ¿qué? ¿Os gusta, eh pillinas?

I´m telling you, Patrones magazine is updating itself. Another long-short skirt. Maybe for my daughter in a few years time. But top 24 is cute isn´t it?

26 y 27 me los pongo ya con los mismos colores y el mismo estampado.

26 and 27. I´d steal those from the mannequin in a heartbeat!

Tallas grandes: Fantástico! Tanto la blusa como los pantalones. 

Plus Size: Fantastic! Blouse and trousers are just beautiful!

32,33 y 34 tampoco están nada mal.

Y por último unas instrucciones para hacer esta monada de chaqueta, que ya quisiera yo, pero no entiendo ni jota de los que dice "3 veces 5p, 2v" ¿eso que éeees? Algún día veré la luz pero de momento ni idea.

And lastly some instructions to make this pretty jacket, I wish I could read "knit" but I just cant, cannot make sense of those abbreviations. I´ll see the light one day, I know, but right now I live among knitting shadows ;)

Y ya que estamos de charleta, os cuento lo que muchas ya sabeis: que nos juntamos en Bilbao unas pocas costureras y nos lo pasamos pipa: Comprando telitas, de charla...hay que repetirlo!

Me gustó mucho conocerlas a todas pero conocer a Maider y a Miren después de haber hablado con ellas tantas veces fué un punto. Como dice Isa de Onlylola : segundo encuentro en 2 meses.. soy la costurera "Willy Fogg"

On the 26th December there was a very girly gathering  in Bilbao. We had a blast! Maider took us shopping for fabric and then we met Miren from TELARIA. Really,the best day!!

Hice muy pocas fotos porque estabamos muy entretenidas dándole a la lengua pero os dejo con una foto que me gusta especialmente.

Tres dias sin ordenador, cuando entré al Bloglovin casi me da algo, pero por fin parece que me he puesto al corriente de vuestras cosas, así que a falta de fotos de lo último que he estado cosiendo, os hago una "review" de la última revista Patrones que me he comprado. El número 332 que va repletito de vestidos.

Three days I spent without my computer! When I finally opened the Bloglovin page I had so many unread posts that it took a lot of hours to read and comment them. I´ve seen so many pretty things!

I´ve been sewing but I haven´t got the photos yet. But do you mind if I review the latest Patrones magazine I´ve bought? It is number 332 and it´s full of dresses.

First page with all the models. Sorry about the quality of the images, I don´t know what´s going on with my camera lately...

Vamos a los vestidos. No os he puesto todos, hay más en la revista...

Estos dos de Pedro del Hierro me gustan. Pero no para mí. 

The dresses. I didn´t photograph all the pages, threre are more in the magazine.

I like these two, but not for me.

¿Y este de Elogy? Con falda de media capa y volantillos, ¡Precioso! Tampoco me veo con él, pero igual en verano sí.

A mi esta rubia me lo vende tó! Si es que está encantada y no me extraña. Mira el blusón!

Y es vestido es sencillo y bonito. La tela es preciosa. Ambos son "costura facil"

This blond girl sells me everything! She looks so happy in her clothes. I like everything she is wearing. And the fabrics are awesome!

Chaqueta, dos tops y pantalones. Va bien surtida la revista. Me pido la blusa y el cinturón.

Jacket, two tops and trousers. That blouse with the obi belt looks so pretty!

¡Oh, más vestidos! Yo quiero el número 18 ¡ya! Pero le añadiria bolsillos.

More dresses! I want number 18 asap! But with pockets.

Estos dos, sencillos y con una buena tela, sensacionales. Me da un poco de frio el 23, pero bueno...

These two are simple and elegant. The black one makes me feel the cold just looking at it. But it´s pretty.

Vestidos sin guapa dentro. No digo ná porque me gustan todos.

Dresses without a girl inside. I like them all!

Y ahora la razón por la que me compré esta revista: El vestido de abajo. El 29. ¿Eso como sentará?

Es como arrollarse una manta en lo alto, ¿no? Pues me gusta, me da miedo, pero me gusta mucho.

And now the reason why I bought the magazine. The dress number 29. How would that look on a person?

It is like rolling a blanket around your body, isn´t it? Well I like it. It scares me but I like it A LOT!

Tallas grandes: 2 chaquetas, un pantalón y una blusa. Creo que son buenos básicos.

Big sizes: two jackets, trousers and a blouse. Pretty good basics.

La princesa está triste...¿que tendrá la princesa? Para estar de fiesta esta niña no parece nada contenta. ¿Será la ropa? A mi me da la sensación de que se la han hecho un poco grande ¿no?

This little girl doesn´t look very happy, eventhough she is supposed to be ready for Christmas parties...Maybe the clothes are too big for her.

Definitivamente, esos pantalones, además de ser anchos "per se" le van grandes.

Tambien hay un patrón para tejer este cardigan. Me gusta, pero es una pena que no sepa descifrar aún todas las abreviaturas. Todo se andará!

Now, definitely! It´s the clothes. Look at the size of those trousers! 
The magazine also contain a pattern to knit that lovely cardigan. It´s a pity I can´t decipher those knitting terms yet!

Y por último, en la escuela de costura, te dicen como hacer este gorrito y estas manoplas de un jersey que no te pongas. Y también la técnica para poner bies (en otra página que no he fotografiado)

Finally, at the "Sewing School" they show us how to make a hat and mittens out of an old woolly sweater. And in the "Sewing Techniques" department: how to apply bias tape. (not photographed)

Pues esta es la revista. Yo creo que viene completita y con cosas muy ponibles (excepto lo que me gusta a mi, claro)
