The Tiger Inside

¡Me gustan los retos! De costura, deportivos, personales... Asi que me he apuntado a este  de Fehr Trade. Todos los años suelo hacer dos carreras: San Silvestre y la Carrera Popular del Puerto de Algeciras, que da pistoletazo de salida a la Feria de Algeciras y pone punto final al año escolar...¡yupi!

A la feria voy poco, pero la carrera no nos la perdemos. 

I like challenges. All kinds. Sewing and sport challenges being my favourites...so I just had to join in Fehr Trade ´s SPRING RACE CHALLENGE.

I usually run two races a year. One is in New Years Eve (mainly to avoid the cooking) and the other one is the yearly popular race held in Algeciras as means to start the Feria, in the most healthy way...It all goes downhill from there, what with all the food and drink at the fair...It also marks the end of school!

Lo que he hecho para este reto son los pantalones para correr, así en plan vintage. 

El patrón es el número 121 del Burda 05/2010, de las primeras Burdas que tengo. 

Lo he hecho con lo que me sobró de los dos tigres ESTE/ THIS ONE y ESTE OTRO/ THE OTHER ONE.

Mas unos metritos de bies satinado blanco, un poco de elástico gordo y un cordoncillo de adorno...

¡Y a correr! (Literalmente)

What I made for this challenge are the running shorts, the kind I used to wear as a child...I think they are called vintage now...

I used pattern number 121 from Burda 05/2010, one of the first sewing magazines I ever bought.

I made these with the left over fabric from my two Tigers ESTE/ THIS ONE and ESTE OTRO/ THE OTHER ONE.

Plus some meters of white satin bias tape, some thick elastic and a little cord. Easy and nice to wear.

La carrera fué más larga de lo prevista: en lugar de 5.6 km, corrimos 7, decisiones de última hora, se notaron todos y cada uno de los metros de más...uf!

The race was longer than expected: 7 km instead of 5.6, last minute decisions. I could feel  each extra meter...phew!

Pero os estareis preguntando que a que viene el título, eso del tigre interior: Es que la parte estampada de la tela, la cabeza va por detro :)

You might be wondering about the title of the post: The tiger inside. I had to use the print part of this fabric (the tiger head part) inside the waist band . That´s all there is to it! :)

The Hepburn Proyect

De nuevo por aquí. Me da por rachas.
No sé si conoceis este reto de RHINESTONES AND TELEPHONES. Se trata de crear algo inspirandote en alguna de las dos Hepburn: Audrey y Katharine. A mi me gustan las dos. Mi madre es una cinéfila impenitente y desde pequeñita me expuso a las películas clásicas, desde los años 30 hasta los 60 creo que las he visto casi todas.  Mis favoritas además de estas dos grandes son Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner...solo por nombrar algunas.
Lo mejor de este reto es que no tiene fecha límite. A mi me viene estupéndamente. A ver si para otoño hago otras cositas para Kate.

I bet you know about the RHINESTONES AND TELEPHONES challenge. It is about creating garments inspired by one or both Hepburns: Audrey and Katharine. I like them both a lot! My mother who is mad about the movies has exposed me, since I was very little, to all the classics. From the 30´s to the 60´s. My favourite actreses, style-wise are both Hepburns, Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner...just to name a few.
The best part of this challenge is that it has no dead-line. Great! See if I can sew for Kate next Autumn!

TOP BLANCO Y CORTO & SHORTS A RAYAS

WHITE CROP TOP & STRIPED SHORTS

He escogido dos looks bastante parecidos, la verdad. Top y shorts. Me viene estupendamente, porque aunque me gusten mucho los vestidos en verano, la verdad es que llevo más este tipo de atuendo. Comodidad ante todo.

I´ve chosen two very similar looks, truth to be told. Top and shorts. They come in very handy as that what I usually wear during the summer. I love dresses, but I normally wear them in the afternoons and evenings.

Los shorts son del Burda 6/2011 # 111. Ya he hecho unas cuantas versiones de este patrón. Me gustan porque van hasta la cintura y luego son un poco "evasé"

These shorts are Burda 6/2011 #111. I´ve made three versions of it. I like how they go up to the waist and then they are a bit flared.

La camisa es un "frankenpattern" con mi patrón base de las clases de Craftsy, y los cuello y bolsillos de una camisa de Patrones.

The shirt is a "frankenpatter" with my Cratsy sloper and the neckband and pockets from a Patrones shirt.

Es una prueba de copia de una camisa muy mona que tiene mi hija, quiero hacer una versión en vichy azul y blanco. Las extensiones para anudar han quedado un poco "raquíticas" pero eso se soluciona facil. El resto creo que está bastante bien.

This is a mock version of a shirt I want to copy. It is my daughter´s. I want to make a Vichy version in white and blue. The extensions to knot the shirt are too thin, now that I see the photos. That´s easy to solve. The rest I think is quite nice.

Un detalle de los cuellos y bolsillos. El cuello está arrugadillo porque todo esto iba metido en la bolsa de la playa de cualquier manera...

A detail of the neck band and pockets. The neckband is all wrinkly because the whole outfit was inside the beach bag for a long time. 

CAMISA A CUADROS & SHORTS LISOS

PLAID SHIRT & SOLID SHORTS

Compré esta tela para hacer una camisa a algún hombre de la familia, pero luego me dí cuenta de que me quedé corta de metraje. Bueno, mejor para mi, jiji!

I bought this fabric to make a shirt to a random man of the family but I realized I had not enough. Good for me!

Este es el patrón que usé. El frente y la espalda van al bies, y no lleva pinzas en el pecho, eso al principio me daba un poco de cosilla, pero claro, si la tela está al bies, se adapta mejor.

This is the pattern I used. The front and back are on the bias, and it hasn´t got bust darts, as the fabric adapts to the body when it is on the bias.

Siento no tener mejores fotos, pero esto  es lo que hay últimamente. 

Esta camisa me la he puesto ya un montón de veces.

CONSEJO 2 PARA BLOGI-FOTOS: FOTO-BOMBERS

ADVISE Nº2 ON TAKING PHOTOS FOR YOUR BLOG: PHOTOBOMBERS

Si sois mamás y os haceis fotos con vuestros niños correteando por alrededor (cuando no tomando ellos mismos las fotos) os pasará muy a menudo que se os "cuelan" en las fotos.

Es divertido, supuestamente. Mi consejo: no luches contra eso. ¡Únete al enemigo! Cuando perciben que no te están fastidiando la sesión, si no que acoges su presencia de mil amores porque ellos son más importantes, pierden todo el interés. Ellos son así.

If you are a mum, and you have to take your photos with your little darlings around, more often than not, they´d want to get "in the picture"

It is fun to spoil your mum´s poses!. My advise: Don´t fight them...Join them! Once they perceived they are much more important than your silly photos, they loose all interest and they go catching crabs instead. My word!

Falda/Skirt Patrones. Reto " ¿Que Prenda Necesito?"

¡Hola amiguitas! Del reto de Mónica de ¿Que Prendas Necesito? ya me he perdido los pantalones sport y la camiseta, pero esta vez me he puesto las pilas y he terminado la falda en 2 dias a ratitos perdidos.

Podía haber sido en uno solo, pero me empeñé en seguir las instrucciones de la revista, que no tenian sentido y terminé descosiendo todo y volviendo a empezar desde el principio...Menos mal que no me dió por hacer costuras vaqueras o francesas porque entonces aún estaria en el cesto de proyectos inacabados.

Hello friends! Mónica challenged us in ¿Que Prendas Necesito?, that is Spanish for "What clothes do I need?" where some of us are sewing a garment each week. I´ve already missed the casual trousers and the t-shirt, so here I am jumping on the wagon with my very, very casual denim skirt.

It took me two days to finish, where this can be easily achieved in a day because I was silly enough to follow Patrones Magazine instructions. They made no sense and I had to rip all the seams and start over again. 

Muy bien. Yo queria una falda cómoda, facil de llevar...vaya: trotera. Y como la última falda vaquera que pasó por mi armario era una mini muy mini (ya está desterrada por impropia) pues necesitaba una. 

Ni me puse a buscar patrones porque ya sabía que queria esta (tambien quiero las chaquetas de estas dos siesas. Yo por pedir...)

Este es el numero 292 de Patrones. Creo que del año 2010. Y el patrón es el número 13.Claro, eso muy buena suerte no podia traer, ahora que lo pienso.

I wanted a very casual, easy to wear skirt. To run around. And as the last denim skirt I owned has been deported from my closet for its indecent lenght, I needed a new one. One in which I can bend over and not show my underwear. 

I knew it had to be this one.

This is Patrones number 292. I think is from 2010. Pattern number 13 (I should have taken that as a sign)

 La faldita no tiene ná: Es recta, por delante dos bolsillos, por detrás canesú y cinturilla con forma. Ese es un detalle de patrones que me gusta mucho, suelen estar muy bien hechas. 

He terminado algunas cosas con bies por dentro. Todo no por que abultaba mucho. 

There is not much to say about it. A straight skirt with two front pockets, back yoke and shaped waistband. That is one of the things that I love about Patrones: their waistbands!

Así es como queda por delante, de lado y por atrás. Os tengo que decir que la he estrenado para ir a buscar a los peques al cole, que está cuesta arriba en plan puerto de primera, con las prisas que vamos todas a esas horas y ha pasado la prueba.  Hice un poco de trampa y fuí en chanclas pero es lo bueno de esta falda, que te la pones con una camiseta y unas chanclas y tambien vas mona.

I went to take the kids from school in this one (minus the high heels) and it passed the test. Mind you: the school is on a hill....

Detalles: El saco de los bolsillos.Es una tela de Telaria. Los ultimos trocitos que me quedaban despues de hacer los proyectos. ¡Tengo unas ganas de que empiece la acción y poderos enseñar lo que he estado cosiendo durante estos dias!

Details: The pocket lining. It is a scrap from the proyects I just finished sewing for the Marathon  Telaria.

I´m so looking forward for it to start!
