Hola, ya pasó Navidad! He estado viendo costuras navideñas por la blogosfera y confieso que me da un poco de vergüenza escribir esto. Yo solo he estado haciendo costura de supervivencia: cosas chandalosas para los críos o para mi y repeticiones. Nada que merezca la pena publicar.
Uno de los vestidos que he repetido ha sido este, AQUI/HERE teneis la otra versión, pero estaba tan desgastada por el uso y es un vestido tan calentito que cuando encontré un punto parecido ( aunque este es más verde-grisaceo, el otro era gris-gris, no es que en las fotos se note, pero bueno, un dato) lo repetí.

Hello, ladies!  Christmas came and went! I've been seeing some Christmas-sewing action around the blogosphere and I have to say your makes put me to shame as I write this. I've only been doing "survival sewing": things that I really need, or my kids need. I've been sewing tracksuit pants, sweaters and things like that. Nothing post-worthy.
I´ve repeated patterns, as is the case with this dress. Vogue 8946. I´ve made it before AQUI/HERE, but it was all worn out so I chose a similar fabric (this one is also grey, with some green hues, not that you can notice it in the pictures)

 

También he estado tejiendo. Encontré esta lana que estaba a mitad de precio, ya que solo quedaban dos "bolas" o como quiera que se llamen, no era suficiente para hacer un jersey, pero sí para un chal-bufanda. Es calentito y suave.

I've been knitting too: I found this yarn half price, only two "balls" (sorry, I'm still not familiar with knitting vocabulary) Not enough to make a jumper, so I decided to make a shawl/scarf/whatever. It is quite warm, actually! 

Y finalmente me compré una Ottobre. Bueno, no se...los diseños son muy ponibles pero a mi las instrucciones me quitan las ganas. Además la mayoria de los modelos están diseñado para coser con la remalladora y yo sigo en mis trece de no comprar una. Minimalista que es una.

And I finally bought one of those Ottobre magazines that are very popular amongst Spanish sewists. Well, I don't know... I find all the designs very wearable, I admit it, but the instructions put me off. Besides most of the models are designed to be sewn with a serger, and I refuse to buy one.

 

Necesitaba algún vestidín mono para dar clase y decidí probar el número 6, que tiene todas las costuras con remalladora y por fuera. Soy pura contradicción, lo sé.

 I needed something comfortable and nice for my classes and I decided to try number six which has all the seams sewn on the outside with a serger.

Mi tela de punto es como doble y tiene el estampado por el derecho y por el revés es totalmente negra. Hice todas las costuras de las piezas poniendo revés con revés y después de abrirlas con la plancha las aseguré con una costura al canto en zig-zag pequeñito.

My fabric had one side printed but the other side was entirely black, so I decided to sew the seams wrong side together and then open them and secure them with a zig-zag stitch.

La transición de las costuras del delantero al trasero fué estupendamente.

Seam transition front-back went right!

Y este vestido lo puedo llevar con mis nuevos zapatos de profe. Me encantan! Son cómodos y los puedo llevar con faldas!

I can wear it with my new teacher-shoes. I'm in love with them, they are so comfortable and they look good with skirts!

Más cositas: Tejí un jersey para mi fotógrafo: tenía que ser negro, porque casi siempre va de negro, pero añadí una banda de un color entre azul y gris que hacen juego con sus ojos.

Ah, y esos pantalones son  V8859

Los hice con falso cuero con stretch. La tela parece y se siente como cuero, y para coserla es un rollo. 

Me sobró un poco y con eso y tres metros de una tela bonita que encontré por ahí, hice mi vestido navideño de este año...pero esa es otra historia.

 

More things: I've knitted a sweater for my photographer. It had to be black, because he usually dress in black, but I added a greyish-blue band that goes with his eyes. 

Oh, and those pants I´m wearing are V8859 in a stretch fake leather fabric. They are comfortable and soft to touch.

I had some of that fabric left and with it and three meters of another fabric I made my Chirstmas dress...but that's another story.

Insomnia Sweater

Hola! Yo otra vez. Y otra vez pidiendo perdón por no haber estado atenta a vuestras creaciones de otoño/invierno. La culpa es de Septiembre ¿pero que le pasa a este mes? Olvídate de Enero y su cuesta, Septiembre se lleva la palma: vuelta al cole de los niños y la mía propia y con ella vuelven también todas las inseguridades laborales que me tienen dando vueltas por la noche. Y como es treméndamente incívico darle a la máquina de coser a las 3 de la mañana, me puse a tricotar.

Ya os dije allá por agosto que me había apuntado a My Fisrt Seamless Sweater en Craftsy

Hello! Yes, I'm back, again. Sorry for missing all your nice Autumn/Spring proyects (depending on the hemisphere you live in) Life has kept me busy. What is it with September??? Crazy month! If it wasn't enough with children going back to school, I go back to school too, and with it return all the job uncertainties.

I needed something to keep my mind out of those, and machine sewing at 3 a.m. is not an option if you consider yourserf a civilised person. I turned to knitting.

So I told you back in August that I enroled in Craftsy's  My Fisrt Seamless Sweater

¿Ha sido fácil? Bueno, en mi vida había trabajado con agujas circulares, pero las explicaciones son magníficas y siguiendolas paso a paso consigues tu jersey. A ver...no es el jersey más bonito ni el más estiloso, de hecho es un poco amorfo, la verdad, pero yo estoy encantada, que quereis que os diga.

¿Que no me gusta de tricotar? Se tarda una barbaridad en terminar una prenda. Así que como inviertes tanto tiempo en hacer una cosa, recomiendo gastarte los euros en unas lanas que merezcan la pena.

¿Que me gusta de tricotar? Ya os dije que soy friolera. Tener algo calentito que ponerme en invierno es incentivo suficiente. Además me relaja. Pero engancha (una vuelta más y lo dejo...bueno, otra..)

Total, que estoy pensando en hacer otro curso, esta vez algo más entalladito.

Was it easy? Well, I had never knitted with circular needles, but the directions are excellent and if you follow them, you get your sweater. That said, it is not a very glamorous one. Quite boxy actually, but I'm over the moon, truth to be told.

What is it that I don't like about knitting? I takes ages to finish a garment. So I realised it is a good idea to invest money in good quality yarn.

And what is it that I like? I'm always cold in winter. I NEED warm swaters! Besides it is a good thing that you can take your knitting to odd places, when you know you´ll be spending time with nothing to do ( eg. my children swimming practice)

So, I'm thinking about another course, the Artemisia sweater, for instance.

Total, que ahora mi corazón está dividido: Le sigo dando a la aguja y aprendo a hacer el Artemisia, o mejor sigo con la máquina?

Now my heart is torn: Should I carry on learning the knitting business or should I stick to my machine?

Entre que me decido por una cosa u otra os dejo con una maravillosa vista otoñal del Sena.

Knitting Green. Tejiendo en Verde

¡Mi primer proyecto con las agujas de tejer está oficialmente terminado!

My first knitting proyect is officially finished!

  Cuatro meses de hacer y deshacer, como Penélope pero sin ningún Ulises a quien esperar. Una tragedia griega.

Four months of knitting and...erm...unknitting?, just like Penelope but without any Ulises to wait for. A real greek tragedy.

Con diez años mi madre me enseño a echar los puntos, a lo del derecho y revés que debe ser como ir bici, porque no se me había olvidado, pero de ahí a hacer algo con forma. Me ha ayudado telefónicamente Maria del Mar de Granada. ¡Hola guapa. A ver si nos vemos pronto!

Y en vivo y en directo la señora Juani, a la que quiero mucho, mucho.

Aged ten, my mother tought me how to cast the stitches and to make the basics: rib, stocking and garter... Well it looks like knitting is like riding a bike and it came back naturally after so many years. But what I didn´t learn back then was how to make anything shapely. I had to ask for help (via telephone) to the best knitters I know. They still failed to put some knitting sense in my brain.

Pues eso. Tú le dices a tu hija que le vas a hacer un jersey, le preguntas que como lo quiere. Ella te dice que le da igual pero que tenga una carita contenta en el centro...

But you tell your daughter that you are going to make a jumper for her and you ask her how she wants it. She tells you that she doesn´t care as long as it has a smily face on the front...

...Se lo haces desear durante cuantro meses. Y cuando por fín se lo das para que se lo ponga aunque sea el mayor churro y la boca de la carita esté torcida, y le quede un poco grande, se convierte en la prenda más especial del mundo. Y eso, queridas mías, es el mejor premio para esta Penélope.

....Then you make her wish for it for four long months. When it´s finally hers, even if it is the biggest flop, the smile is all crocked and the jumper is just to wide for her, it suddenly becomes her favorite piece. And that, my darlings, is the best price for this Penelope

No creo que tejer sea lo mío, pero ¡ha sido divertido intentarlo!
