Burda 10/2012 #110 El Chaleco Manta. The Blanket Vest

¡Hola guapas!
Acabo de hacer un regalo.¡Que maja soy! Lo malo es que yo quería este chaleco para mí, porque hace mucho frio y necesitaba algo así, pero no va a poder ser, porque no he confiado en Burda....Y esos errores se pagan.

Hello ladies!
I just made a present. But I had no intention to do so. I so wanted this vest for me, it´s cold right now, but I didn´t trust Burda Magazine and I have to pay for my mistake.

Como esto tenía pensado ponerlo con jerseis de cuello alto, más camiseta, más termal, etc pensé que en lugar de hacerme la talla 38 que me hago siempre con Burda, me haría la 40. Pero Burda ya lo había pensado por mí. En resumen: Hay que pensar "a la española" cuando cosas patrones alemanes. 

I thought that I had to wear this with turtel necks and a thermal and what not beneath so I made a size 40 instead of my usual 38. But Burda had thought it for me. To cut the long story short: When sewing with Burda I have to think "a la Spanish" No previsions!

Este patrón me gusta, por que tiene bolsillos, doble botonadura, corte asimétrico y un panel en el lado que facilmente puede tener "efecto adelgazante" si lo haces en una tela de contraste más oscura.
La tela es como un bouclé de lana gordita, muy abrigada. 

I like the pattern though. It´s double-breasted, asymmetric, a side pannel that can be used for "sliming purposes" when made with a contrast (and darker) fabric, and pockets. The fabric is a kind of wool bouclé if such a thing exist.

Ultimamente estoy un poco pesada con los acabados, así que le puse bies a todo. En la revista el chaleco va forrado, pero ya era demasiado. Solo tuve que sacar unas vistas para las sisas

At least the recipient of this present won´t be afraid of showing the finishes as everything has it´s cute bias binding. The magazine asked for lining it, but I didn´t wanted to, so I just had to make a little pattern for the armhole facings

Siento mucho esta chapuza de fotos, pero mi trípode se ha escacharrado, mi fotógrafo está de vacaciones y hace mucho frio para pedir a alguien que me acompañe y me haga unas fotitos, con la que está cayendo.
La próxima será mejor, ¡lo yuro!

I´m so sorry about the quality of the photos. My tripod is missing the most important part, and there seem to be no spare parts on sale. My official fotographer is on holiday so I asked one of my co-workers to take my pic...in a hurry...one minute before the doors opened and hoards of under 10s would take over the place and our attention.
I hope I can bring you something a bit more exciting next time. Actually I´m sure of it. What can be less exciting than a blanket-vest? :D

Burda 09/2010 Blusón 109 C y Pantalón 115 + chaleco franzi

Creo que alguna vez he dicho que los Burdas de septiembre son los mejores, como los de Febrero. El de 2010 fué especialmente bueno y aún tengo pendientes algunas faldas, trench etc para hacer.
I know it´s not the first time I say how greatBurda´s  September and February issues normally are. September 2010 was specially good for me and I still have some items from it I´d love to sew.

El invierno pasado, cuando aún no me atrevía con las chaquetas, me encabezoné en hacerme un "conjunto" Como sea. Y yo soy muy cabezota.

Last winter I wouldn´t dare try to make a jacket, but I dreamed of a coordinate. Any kind at any rate.

So this is what I thought

Primero hice el pantalón con una tela del mercadillo así que deduzco que será una mezcla de poliester algo elástico, y vete tu a saber, yo no me arrimo a una cerilla por si acaso me inflamo.

La primera vez que cosía algo con cuadros que hay que hacer coincidir, a mi me salió un poco por suerte, la verdad. Aparte de eso estoy muy orgullosa de mi cinturilla .

First I made the pants with a poly-blend of some sorts, some elastic threads in it too. I wouldnt go near a flame wearing it.

This was the first time I worked with " squares" you have to match them and mine went well by sheer luck.

I´m very proud of my back waist band though

Los bolsillos no son de verdad, solo la solapa para dar un poco de volumen a la zona.

The back pockets are fake. Just to add a little volume in that area.

Y tambien metí la pata. - el bolsillo quiere vivir su vida

I also messed something up. The pocket has a mind of its own

Bueno, la blusa, venia hasta en versión vestido. Estuve tres dias a vueltas con las instrucciones hasta que dí con la construccion, después fué todo facil, pero no tuve vista para cerrar un poco mas el escote, y no tener que llevarla con camisetilla por debajo. No me gusta nada! Las copas de las mangas, así , así.

The blouse came in three different versions. I spent three days trying to figure out the instructions and how everything worked out, after that it was quite easy to put together. I should have make the front opening a little higher. I hate to wear camisoles under blouses! The sleeves attachment were just so-so

Los botones me los dió mi madre.¿ No son chulísimos?

No, por que están desenfocados!  Not when they are out of focus!

Por último el chaleco, me salió un poco pequeño por que había que imprimirlo y no pude hacerlo a su tamaño exacto. Ni bolsillos ni trabilla ni detallito en el cuello. Ya estaba hartita.

Lo único que le añadí fueron unas puntadas decorativas por todos los bordes. Estaba en plena exploración de las posibilidades de mi máquina.

Last thing I did was the vest. Too tight as I downloaded it and then I couldn´t print it in it´s real size, just a tad smaller. I kept it simple: no pockets no strip in the back... just a little stitch pattern I found while exploring the possibilities of my sewing machine

Y esto es lo que me he puesto hoy. En realidad la blusa no la uso tanto.

Cosas de niños - Sewing for the little ones

Una de niños.
Empiezo por lo facil. Tenía una telita que no me daba para un vestido, y una puntilla muy bonita de mi madre. El patrón no sé de que Burda lo saqué, se ata con botones por detrás y tiene bolsillos. Pues nada, una batista de forrar por abajo y¡ voilá!
Starting with the easy one. I had this small piece of fabric, not enough for a dress, and a very nice lace ending from my mother. I don´t remember from which Burda did the pattern come from, it has got pockets and buttons in the back, so it just needed a little white lining and voilá!

Quedó bastante bien, para mi poca pericia fruncidora. Así que me animé a hacerle un chaleco a juego, otra vez el 614 del Burda extra kids del 2010. La tela, la que me sobró de hacer un cobertor para el sofá de casa... me gusta el naranja. Un detallito en el delantero de la tela de la falda y listo.

It came out all right, despite my bad gathering technique. So I made a vest to match from Burda Kids 2010, from leftover fabric that I had from my sofa cover. An appliqué from the skirt with my dear Therm o web and ready.

Y a la "seño" de mi hijo le gustó tanto  que le hice una a ella, pero un poco más fina, usando este tutorial fantástico aquí.
