Aprender a hacer el patrón ha sido una gozada, con sus explicaciones.

Tanto, tanto que me ha picado el gusanillo de aprender algo de patronaje. Seguiremos informando...

I´m so grateful to Maider! I wear leggings very often, but only for sporting activities.

Learning to make the pattern with her clear explanations has been very enlightening, so much so that I think I´ve got the pattern-making bug. I´ll keep you posted about that particular.

Como os decía: Para mí los leggins son para hacer deporte. Después de tantos años, soy un poco "particular". Tienen que caer a medio gemelo, de cintura baja y cuantas menos costuras mejor. 

Y siguiendo las instrucciones de Maider he conseguido lo que queria...menos el color. 

So, leggings for me are just for training. After so many years I´m very particular about the kind I like wearing: low rise, mid-calf and as little seams as possible. With Maider´s instructions I now have exactly what I like...minus the colour! (brown leggings? really?)

En la tienda solo tenían lycra marrón. Parece ser que ese es el único color que encuentro. Creo recordar que me hice un bikini en ese color hace dos años.Es como la maldición.

But that´s all the lycra colour they had in my fabric shop. I remember making a bikini out of the same brown lycra. Looks like I´m doomed to get only that shade.

Detalle de la cinturilla y bajos. Como ya sabeis no tengo remalladora, así que lo he cosido todo usando puntada elástica y/o normal y en los bajos un zig-zag de 2/2

Detail of the waistband and leg cuffs. I haven´t got an overlock. I sewed all of it using regular and/or stretch stitch plus a 2/2 zig-zag stitch in the cuffs.

2013 Essential Top Sew-A-Long. Vogue 1170 Rachel Comey

Me acabo de dar cuenta que el Faye´s 2013 Essential Top Sew-Along. iba de esenciales y yo me he hecho un top de todo menos esencial. Pero tenía muchas ganas de hacerlo desde que ví la version de Handmade by Carolyn (No lo puedo evitar, me gusta todo lo que hace) pero no encontraba la tela, despues llegó el invierno y cayó en el olvido...Estoy hablando de esto:

I just realized I totally missed the point about Faye´s 2013 Essential Top Sew-Along. Because I didn´t pay attention to the basic-ness of it and I just made a top. The one that was waiting to be made for a whole year.

Ever since I saw Carolyn´s super-adorable version of it I knew I had to make one for myself, but I didn´t find the right fabric and then winter came, and I completely forgot about it...I´m talking about this:

Vogue 1170

Hace algunas semanas me encontré con esta tela, aqui le llaman verde Andalucía, pero para mí es esmeralda, tan brillante y con una caida tan buena y me acordé de este vestido, que me dejó impactada cuando ví la peli

Then, some weeks ago I found this fabric, gorgeosly green and shiny against the grayness of the rest of the lot and this dress came to mind

Me llevé toda la tela verde que les quedaba, 3 metros y medio, con intención de copiar el vestido en cuestión pero luego la cruda realidad me puso los pies en el suelo: En el caso remoto que me saliera algo similar, ni yo soy Keira Knightley, ni me invitan a más saraos gordos cada fin de semana. Y este año no voy de boda.

Aun con todo yo seguia con la idea de que fuera algo femenino, delicado un poco años 30, y este Vogue es perfecto. Y encima me sobra tela para otra cosa.

I took all the green fabric they had left, 3 meters and a half with all the intention to try and copy this dress but then I realized that even if I could get something similar I had very slim chances to wear it with my current life-style...and no weddings for me this year.

Still I wanted something very femenine, delicate and 30´s and Vogue 1170 fit the bill beautifully.

The rest of the fabric is being put to good use too!

Me ha encantado trabajar con este patrón. Los detalles son minuciosos, costuras francesas por todos lados. Pero yo soy muy bruta para trabajar con telitas así. Hacer el dobladillo de las tiras de los hombros ha sido muy frustrante. Tenía que haberme dejado de tonterías y haberle metído una cremallera y plis-plas. Pero no, yo quería el completo y ahora tengo un lado más largo que otro (ligeramente, pero se nota)

Y encima el frente esta al bies, y la espalda no. Cuando lo coses junto terminas con el delantero 5-7 cm más largo. Solución: tijeras :)

Pero seamos positivos

I loved working with this patten. The constructions details are so pretty, french seams everywhere, but I´m no good at sewing slippery and thin fabric. hemming the round edges, like the sleeve ties was a very frustrating experience. I should have use Carolyn´s tip and close the back with a zipper, but I wanted to make everything  the instructions said (I was very obedient as a child) And one of the back button bands is slightly longer than the other. 

Also the front is cut on the bias but the back is not: this results, for me, in a more-than-slightly longer front when you sew them together. I just trimmed the front :)

The very thin bias to finish the neck band. So proud! Mine are usually chunky and ugly

Pregunta: ¿Por qué, si tengo que meter la pata, siempre la meto en la última parte?

So many things can go wrong when sewing...why do they always happen in the last steps?

Bueno y esto es el fruncido de la sisa. La mejor de la tropecientas versiones que hice

That´s the under arm gathering. I spent a long time with this. This is the less-ugly version. Hand gathering is something I don´t practice much.

En realidad estoy encantada. Aunque no esté perfecto da igual, la gente solo va a ver el nudo (Claro que vosotras no sois gente, sois costureras!)

I´m really happy with this top, even if it´s less than perfct, its knot is all that people see of it! (Except you, of course, but you are not people, you are sewists!)

En esta foto parezco la tía de mi padre, si es que al final sale todo

Y si a Doña Primavera no le apetece venir a vermos, yo me voy al Picmonkey y me fabrico una, ¡ea!

And if Spring doesn´t want to come to me, I go to Picmonkey and make myself one!
