Très Facile! Vogue 8909

 

Très facile es lo único que me puedo permitir hacer en los últimos tiempos, o algún capricho que aún no ha encontrado lugar para ser estrenado. Pero lo importante es que sea fácil y gratificante.

Y para eso lo mejor es hacerse un Vogue, poner el piloto automático y seguir las instrucciones.

Très facile is all I can afford lately. That or some whimsical sewing that still haven't found a place to be photographed or be taken to altogether. 

So easy  is the key word here, and these Vogue pants fit the bill completely. 

 

El patrón pide ser hecho en tela elástica, pero esta que es, como de costumbre, African Wax, no lo es. 
Pierden un poco de comodidad, pero eso es todo. 

The pattern asks for stretch fabric, but African Wax isn't. They're not as comfortable, but I love that print!

Cosas que me gustan de este patrón: la costura lateral desplazada hacia adelante con los bolsillos escondidos en ella. Las tres jaretas para los elásticos, mucho más lucidos que poner un elastico más grueso y coser por encima. Y el lacito, claro. Ah, y la anchura de la pierna, ni demasiado pitillos, ni demasiado anchos. Muy actuales, creo.

Things I like from this pattern: Side seams are slightly forwarded and the in-seam pockets are good sized (I always have issues with pocket sizes) Also the elastic casings are the only details, but it looks far better than just making a single one. The circumference of the leg is not too slim, not too loose. Spot on, for my taste.

Y los pendientes, claro! No los he hecho yo. Los vendían en una de las tiendas donde suelo ir a comprar las telas y el dependiente no tuvo mas remedio que fué tan amable de regalarmelos. Por cierto, estos eran los más discretitos.

And the earings, of course! No, I didn't make them. They were selling them in the shop where I use to buy my fabrics and the shop assistant was very kind to give me these. I must add, these are the smallest ones I could find.

Y eso es todo lo que puedo alegar en mi defensa. Bueno, eso y que me he comprado el Burda...a ver si puedo con alguna cosita. Un beso a tod@s

Hola, ya pasó Navidad! He estado viendo costuras navideñas por la blogosfera y confieso que me da un poco de vergüenza escribir esto. Yo solo he estado haciendo costura de supervivencia: cosas chandalosas para los críos o para mi y repeticiones. Nada que merezca la pena publicar.
Uno de los vestidos que he repetido ha sido este, AQUI/HERE teneis la otra versión, pero estaba tan desgastada por el uso y es un vestido tan calentito que cuando encontré un punto parecido ( aunque este es más verde-grisaceo, el otro era gris-gris, no es que en las fotos se note, pero bueno, un dato) lo repetí.

Hello, ladies!  Christmas came and went! I've been seeing some Christmas-sewing action around the blogosphere and I have to say your makes put me to shame as I write this. I've only been doing "survival sewing": things that I really need, or my kids need. I've been sewing tracksuit pants, sweaters and things like that. Nothing post-worthy.
I´ve repeated patterns, as is the case with this dress. Vogue 8946. I´ve made it before AQUI/HERE, but it was all worn out so I chose a similar fabric (this one is also grey, with some green hues, not that you can notice it in the pictures)

 

También he estado tejiendo. Encontré esta lana que estaba a mitad de precio, ya que solo quedaban dos "bolas" o como quiera que se llamen, no era suficiente para hacer un jersey, pero sí para un chal-bufanda. Es calentito y suave.

I've been knitting too: I found this yarn half price, only two "balls" (sorry, I'm still not familiar with knitting vocabulary) Not enough to make a jumper, so I decided to make a shawl/scarf/whatever. It is quite warm, actually! 

Y finalmente me compré una Ottobre. Bueno, no se...los diseños son muy ponibles pero a mi las instrucciones me quitan las ganas. Además la mayoria de los modelos están diseñado para coser con la remalladora y yo sigo en mis trece de no comprar una. Minimalista que es una.

And I finally bought one of those Ottobre magazines that are very popular amongst Spanish sewists. Well, I don't know... I find all the designs very wearable, I admit it, but the instructions put me off. Besides most of the models are designed to be sewn with a serger, and I refuse to buy one.

 

Necesitaba algún vestidín mono para dar clase y decidí probar el número 6, que tiene todas las costuras con remalladora y por fuera. Soy pura contradicción, lo sé.

 I needed something comfortable and nice for my classes and I decided to try number six which has all the seams sewn on the outside with a serger.

Mi tela de punto es como doble y tiene el estampado por el derecho y por el revés es totalmente negra. Hice todas las costuras de las piezas poniendo revés con revés y después de abrirlas con la plancha las aseguré con una costura al canto en zig-zag pequeñito.

My fabric had one side printed but the other side was entirely black, so I decided to sew the seams wrong side together and then open them and secure them with a zig-zag stitch.

La transición de las costuras del delantero al trasero fué estupendamente.

Y este vestido lo puedo llevar con mis nuevos zapatos de profe. Me encantan! Son cómodos y los puedo llevar con faldas!

I can wear it with my new teacher-shoes. I'm in love with them, they are so comfortable and they look good with skirts!

Más cositas: Tejí un jersey para mi fotógrafo: tenía que ser negro, porque casi siempre va de negro, pero añadí una banda de un color entre azul y gris que hacen juego con sus ojos.

Ah, y esos pantalones son  V8859

Los hice con falso cuero con stretch. La tela parece y se siente como cuero, y para coserla es un rollo. 

Me sobró un poco y con eso y tres metros de una tela bonita que encontré por ahí, hice mi vestido navideño de este año...pero esa es otra historia.

 

More things: I've knitted a sweater for my photographer. It had to be black, because he usually dress in black, but I added a greyish-blue band that goes with his eyes. 

Oh, and those pants I´m wearing are V8859 in a stretch fake leather fabric. They are comfortable and soft to touch.

I had some of that fabric left and with it and three meters of another fabric I made my Chirstmas dress...but that's another story.

Sorell Trousers by Pauline Alice

¡CHICAAAS! Que PAULINE ALICE ha sacado dos patrones nuevos,¡¡Con lo que nos gustan a todas!!

¿Que ya lo sabíais? Si es que siempre llego tarde a todo, oish!

Para las despistadas como yo, os cuento: ha sacado un vestido precioso muy años 60 que se llama XEREA y estos pantalones, SORELL, de cintura alta, pata ancha y un master en bolsillos incluido: italianos, bolsillito de reloj, de parche y riveteados. Un lujazo.

A mi me encantan. Me recuerdan a los que llevaba Katharine Hepburn en su época.

Hello girls! Did you know that PAULINE ALICE have launched two new patterns?

Of course you knew. I'm always late for everything!

The dress is very 60s and it's called  XEREA, and these trousers, the SORELLs are high-waisted, wide-legged and are in themselves a master on pockets: watch, italian, patch, riveted...a real treat!

I just love them. They remind me of the ones Katharine Hepburn used back in her time.

Pauline me pidió que fuera probadora del patrón y usé la misma tela que en esta sudadera AQUI/HERE. Es como lino pero color vaquero. Se arruga, pero tiene caida, se deforma, pero es fresca...ideal para  primavera/verano.

Pauline asked me to test them, and I used a fabric that I had already used AQUI/HERE, for a hoodie. It is a kind of linen that looks like light weight denim.Great for Spring/Summer season.

¿Que es lo que me ha gustado más? El corte y sobre todo los bolsillos. El bolsillito frontal es una monada, lo sé, pero lo que me volvió loca fué la construcción y el mimo que puso Pauline en diseñar los bolsillos laterales. Van reforzados con una cinta de grogré por la abertura para que no se deformen. Las explicaciones para los bolsillos son de lo mejor que he visto. De verdad que os los recomiendo.

What did I like best? The cut and, above all things, the pockets. The watch pocket is so cute, I know, but the side pockets are excellent. The construction and the care Pauline put into designing them as well as the instructions are the best I've seen around. Said side pockets are reinforce on the inside with grosgrain tape, so they don't loose shape when wearing the trousers.

Preferí utilizar los bolsillos traseros de parche porque soy una vaga acabada porque le pregunté a Pauline y me los recomendó para mi no-culo. Sin embargo la próxima vez los haré un poco más grandecitos.

I preferred to use the patch pockets because I'm lazy like that because I asked Pauline and she recommended them for my small-sized bum. However, next time I'm make them a bit bigger

Todo va con costuras inglesas: TO-DO. Por dentro están remataditos que da gusto, pero una vez más he olvidado hacer foto. Si puedo, la incluiré otro día.

All the seams are flat-felled, so the insides are a joy to see, but you won't see them unless I take a photo of them...Yes, I forgot again!!!

Solo una cosita: aunque los bolsillos estén muy bien diseñados, muy bien reforzados y muy bien hechos...no os paseis el día con las manitas dentro, que después las sacas para hacerte una foto y se te ven los forros. Avisadas estais.

Just a little piece of advise: No matter how well designed are your pockets, or how well done, or how well reinforced: don't spend the whole time with your hands in them, because later on you take them out to take a photo and your lining will show. You are warned!

¿Que Prendas Necesito? Pantalón Básico

¡Otra vez aquí! Parece que no hago más que coser, pero no... En serio. Mis hijos comen y eso.

Hoy os traigo los pantalones para el reto de Mónica ¿Que Prendas Necesito?

Tocaba pantalón basico así formalito y he estado a punto de hacerme unos del último Patrones que compré que podeis ver AQUI/HERE. Pero lo último que me apetecía era trazar patrones y mucho menos escornarme intentando descifrar las instrucciones. Así que tiré por la calle de en medio y opté por un patrón Vogue:

Es un traje completo: pantalón, chaqueta y blusa. 

Me encantan estos patrones porque puedes poner el automático y no se necesita pensar. Además siempre aprendes alguna técnica nueva. En mi caso: bolsillos con costura francesa. ¡No sé como no se me había ocurrido antes!

Here again! I know it looks like I do nothing but sew...That´s not true. Really! I feed my family and all! ;)

These are the trousers I made for Monica´s Challenge ¿Que Prendas Necesito?

This week it was basic, formal trousers and I was very inclined to make some for the last Patrones magazine you can see AQUI/HERE. But the last thing I needed was to trace patterns or puzzle my brain with the instructions. Instead I used a Vogue pattern:

It is a complete suit: trousers, jacket and blouse.

I love these patterns! You can switch the automatic mode and no need to think, just follow the instructions. Besides I always learn something new construction-wise. This time is was the french seams pockets. Why didn´t I think of that before!

Es un pantalón ligeramente acampanado y muy subido de talle con bolsillos delanteros.

He usado un crepe marrón chocolate, que compré el año pasado en la tienda "cara" donde voy de vez en cuando (principio de mes) Lleva un 4% de elastán y tiene un brillo ligero, no muy exagerado.

No se arrugan mucho pero estas fotos me las han hecho después de estar toda la mañana subiendo y bajando del coche. Unas arruguillas se marcan al final...

The trousers are fitted, slightly flared with raised waist and mock band, carries, side front pockets and fly zipper with hook closure. 

I used a brown chocolate crepe I bought last year in the shop visit sometimes on the fist days of the month (the expensive one ) It contains 4% elastan (I asked) and it is slightly shiny, not to much.

It doesn´t crease a lot but these photos were taken after a morning of jumping in and out of the car and well, the trpusers don´t look as good as they did early in the morning.

Ha sido muy fácil hacerlo y lo mejor: no he tenido que modificar nada, lo he cosido tal cual, y me queda como un guante (de los de látex diria yo), eso no me ha pasado nunca con ningún pantalón Vogue. Mirad por detrás. No se puede llevar con bragas abueleras.

They were very easy to make once I chose the size. Not the envelope size, mind you. I´m wiser now and made sure of the measure in the paper pattern: By the envelope I should have made a 14, by the pattern a 10. Way to go, Vogue!

So I made a 10 and it fits like a glove. Like a surgical glove. Can´t wear these with regular knickers!

Los costados. La construccion de la cintura y bolsillos es muy interesante.

 Y esto es lo que te permite hacer un 4% de elastán en el crep. Patada circular al estilo Chuck Norris. ¡Ahí lo llevas!

And this is what a 4% elastan in the crepe allows you to do. Round kick, Chuck Norris style!

Cargo Pants

¡Hola, muy buenas! Tras pasarme gran parte del verano llevando vestiditos y cosas así, me dí cuenta de que todo tiene una parte mala: En mi caso, no puedo hablar por todas, es que para llevar vestidos tienes que ir arreglada de acuerdo a ellos: Zapatos, mejor de tacón, que estiliza más, un poquito de maquillaje y sobre todo, y aquí llega el gran reto para mi, ir perfectamente peinada. Por que mi pelo tiene guasa.

Total, que repasando mi armario, a parte de los shorts, no tengo gran cosa para ir "casual". Así que ROPA CASUAL es mi reto para este otoño-invierno. Porque al fin y al cabo, con la familia siempre termino en la playa o en el campo.

Que mejor que unos cargos, de loneta, en crudo y con la cinturilla a la cadera. Comodín.

Hello! Nice to see you again!. After spending a great part of the summer trying to wear all my pretty dresses I realized that everything has it´s downfall: In my case, I can´t speak for anyone else, wearing a dress means also wear a little make up, the appropriate shoes, and, here goes my big challenge, perfect hair. And my hair is tricky, and unruly.

So, I had a good look at my closet and beside the shorts there are a few "casual" items. CASUAL is going to be my motto for the next season, I guess. After all, with my family I always end up on a beach or in a wood.

First thing I went for are cargo pants. Classic. Drop waisted, cream coloured and canvas fabric.

El patrón es de la misma revista que ESTOS SHORTS y, sí, es la misma chica otra vez. Me gusta su chaqueta un montón, pero compré la tela en un puesto del mercadillo de Santander y cuando volví a por más ya no quedaba.

The pattern came from the same Patrones magazine as THESE SHORTS and, yep, it is the same girl again. I like her jacket very much too, but I bought the fabric at a flea market and although I returned, I never saw it again...

LO MEJOR: Los bolsillos. Usé un lazo de satén para hacer en "fuelle" y creo que le dá un toque femenino. Hice una especie de ojales de sastre gigantes en los cuatro bolsillos y le puse cremallera en los superiores. Tambien me dió por los bordados, esta vez con letras, en hilo del mismo color, así como muy sutíl...
Ah y los acabados por dentro que están muy puliditos con esas "flat felled seams" que no sé como se llaman en español...que cosas esto de aprender a coser por internete!

THE BEST PART: the pockets. I used cream coloured ribbon to make the sides of the pockets, and it gives the pants a little girliness. I made kind of big bound button-holes in all four pockets, and inserted a zipper in the upper ones. I also embroidered something different in each of them, all very subtle... 

In the one on the bottom it is the beggining of an Spanish saying that goes "the current takes the prawn that falls asleep" I think it will translate as "You snooze, you loose"

Oh, and I used flat felled seams on the insides as it was very easy to make with this kind of fabric.

LO PEOR: Ya que las aberturas de los bolsillos superiores están a la altura de la cadera, resulta dificil meter la mano y no dejartela en carne viva con la cremallera. Tambien se me olvidó que de volumen dee trasero voy mal, y este tipo de bolsillos no me ayuda...Veasé la muestra.

THE WORST PART: Because the pocket slits are placed on the hips it is very difficult to introduce the hads without hurting yourself with the metal zipper. Also I forgot completely about my lack of rear volume, to put it mildly, so they are not very flattering in that area, here is proof

LO QUE SE QUEDÓ SIN TERMINAR: Si, parece que no me gusta terminar las cosas totalmente. En esta ocasión ha sido el cinturón. Compré más lazo de satén para hacerlo, con el otro lado de loneta, la idea parecía buena hasta que terminé de coger los bajos, me lo puse y si te he visto no me acuerdo.

WHAT I MISSED THIS TIME: Yes, it seems that I don´t like totally finished things for some reason. I this case I bought some more ribbon, only thinner to make the belt, but never did. Once the hem was done, I put them on and that was the end of it.

Por si os lo estais preguntando este sitio es Ubiarco, en Cantabria. Hay un sitio estupendo donde las rocas hacen una especie de piscina natural. Mi marido llevó a los niños para que bucearan y vieran los pececitos. ¡Lo pasaron fenomenal!

In case you are wondering this place is called Ubiarco, in Cantabria, Spain. There is a wonderful spot there, like a natural swimming-pool, surrounded by rocks. My husband took the kids to snorkle there, and they were so very happy watching the little fish.

Pantalones de Setas. Mushroom Pants. What a trip!

¡Hola! En medio de esta locura que es Me-Made-May ´13, me ha dado tiempo de hacerme unos pantalones ¡Sorpresa! Otros pantalones si lo que yo necesito son tops.
La tela es un crepe muy finito, con un estampado de setas. En principio lo compré para la niña, pero no veía que podia hacerle, así que lo usé para mi. Modista egoista, sí.

Hello, ladies! I managed to finish some trousers. Yep, trousers. As if I needed more! 
I made them in a very thin crepe, printed with little mushrooms. I bought the fabric for my girl, but couldn´t think of anything made of crepe for girls so I selfishly used it for myself

La única nota interesante en este pantalón tipo pijama es el cruce del frente. En el patrón está la marca de donde poner el botón, es decir, hasta donde cruzarlo. Este paso es el último. No os fiéis, si os animáis a hacerlo: primero os los ponéis, y el cruce lo adaptáis a vuestras curvas.

The only interesting feature in this pajama style trousers is the crossing on the front. You can find in the pattern the mark where the cross should go, and where the button should be sewn. If you think about making these pants, my advise is try them on first and adapt the crossing to your curves.

Otra cosa sobre el cruce: En las instrucciones dice que hay que cerrar el cruce por dentro. Bueno, yo lo he cerrado tambien por fuera con puntadas pequeñitas, porque si no, al sentarte, se abren, y aunque no se vea nada, pues queda un poco raro.

Another thing about the crossing: The instructions say you have to sew the inside of it. I also close it with little hand-stitches on the outside. If you don´t, as you sit down it opens and it looks weird, and not very lady-like :)

Por último, el largo. Debería haberlos dejado caer más abajo, pero quemé la tela (Si, Lupe, no me recuerdes lo de planchar con trapito) :(
Dado que el agujerito estaba cerca de la base, he tenido que dejarlos así. Pantalones para llevar con zapato plano. La que no se consuela....

Lastly, the lenght. These are supposed to be longer but I burned the fabric. Please don´t tell me about ironing with a cloth, I knooooow! I just forgot ;D
But as the burning happened on the front near the hemline, I just had to leave them like this. 
I console myself thinking they are my flat-shoes trousers.

BurdaStyle 10/2010 #104 Emerald Trousers

Muy buenas. ¿Ya os está llegando la primavera? ¿Las alergias bien? Aquí está saliendo el sol y estamos todos como caracoles, aprovechando cada minuto.
Quiero agradeceros mucho, muchísimo todos los comentarios que me habeis dejado sobre la Blusa Esmeralda/Emerald Blouse. Voy a tener que haceros caso y llenar el armario de color verde, un color que nunca me llamó la atención y ahora resulta que va a ser mi color favorito.
Como tenía más tela como la de la blusa, seguí con el proyecto del no- vestido de "Expiación". Un quiero y no puedo más ponible. Primero pensé en hacer una falda acampanada, pero al final tras enseñarle la tela a Charo de Cosiendo y Aprendiendo empezó a mandarme fotos de pantalones Palazzo, o Marlene...anchos en cualquier caso y ya dejé de pensar en faldas. De todos ellos, este, con 70 cm en el bajo, es el que elegí.

Hello! How is Spring going? I want to thank you all for your kind comments on my  Blusa Esmeralda/Emerald Blouse. I didn´t know green was a colour that suited me so well, but from now on it will be my favourite.
I had a lot of green stuff left from the blouse, so I carry on with my proyect "The non-dress of Atonement". Something more wearable. First I thought of a long skirt, but then Charo from Cosiendo y Aprendiendo sent me a lot of ideas for Marlene or Palazzo or whatever the name these pants have. From all of them I chose this ones from Burda as they had the widest hem.

A la modelo creo que la pusieron uno de tres tallas más grandes que la suya, porque los mios quedan más estrecho de arriba. He hecho la talla 38 que es la que uso siempre con Burda.

I think the model is wearing three sizes bigger than her usual size, because mine are closer fitting on the top part. I made my usual 38.

Claramente, cualquier cosa que remetas en el pantalon se va a notar mucho, siendo la tela tan finita:

¡Oh! y mira que cosa tan mona llevo en el pelo: la compré hace 7 años y ha estado esperando ahí la pobre hasta que por fin ha llegado el verde a mi armario.

Oh! And look at that cute little thing on my hair! I bought it like 7 years ago and it had been waiting for something green to land in my closet!
