¿Pequeña tunica o saco de patatas? Little tunic or potato bag?

My intention was making a top easy to wear with my tribal pants, one that hide the unmatched circles in some difficult areas.
I went for this one as it didn´t look bad, it was easy...
Also I wanted to explore the decorative stitches in my sewing machine.
And the result is a potato sack!
I used the left over fabric from my Black is Black capris. Cotton Satin

The decorative stitch was made with silk thread

The back is worst than the front

Y de lado tampoco mejora
And it doesn´t get any better in profile

¿Y a esta por que le queda tan bien?
Why o why does it look so good on her?

Not a complete waste of time though: Using Lupecienta´s instructions I made some hong-kong finishes
I was one day late for her impecable darts instructions

Another good thing is that for the first time in my life I was able to sew a really invisible zipper, ¡Yippy!

  1. Congratulations on your first invisible zipper! I think the only difference between your top and the magazine picture is length and width. If you shortened it by about 2 or 3 cm and made it a bit more fitted it would be more to your liking, I think. I like it! It's a nice casual summer top and looks great with the pants!

    1. You are so right! Although I tried it many times during the process, I just asumed it was the way it was supposed to look! I´ll wear it! Thanks for being so supportive!

Yo no lo he intentado siquiera!!!

    Un besito!

  6. PUES A MI EL TOP ME GUSTA , Y ESE MODELO QUEDA ASÍ NO LEPUEDES DAR M´AS VUELTAS!1
LO QUE NO ME CONVENCE ES ESE SISTEMA DE REMATAR POR DENTRO , NUNCA LO UTILIZO , PREFIERO LAS VISTAS , SIGUIENDO LA FORMA DEL ESCOTE

    Me encanta tu túnica

  10. Congratulations on the zipper. Wrt the fit..yea I dunno, I kinda liked the dress on the model but necklines like that with an overall dartless body worry me.. Also, you know Burda totally 'fake' the 'fit' in their magazines with clips and clamps right? That may not even be her size she's wearing.. (someone did some close up pics of their styling on a sewing blog a while back, highlighting bulldog clips on the backs/ sides of the clothes teehee).

  11. Merche, everything you do is done to perfection. The top maybe baggy on you but it does look very good with the pants. I really like the decorative stitching, it gives the top a lovely finish.

    saludos

  14. I saw this in Burda Style and liked it. I like your version too. I think the top stitching makes it look a whole lot more interesting than the magazine version. I think taking outfit photos every day tends to make us all a bit hyper sensitive. I've been enjoying your daily outfits very much.
By the way, I appreciate your comments on my efforts. Thanks for taking the time.
