At last I sewed something for the hubby and along with it, another piece for Jaime.

La tela que he utilizado me la regaló mi madre, la compró en Mejico, pensando en el piratilla de su nieto, pero ha dado para los dos

The fabric I used was bought by my mom in Mexico thinking about her little pirate (That would be the kid :)
but it was enough for both of them

Para el papá, use este modelo de Burda, pero añadiendo trabillas para cinturón. Mi  marido es fan del look Julián Muñoz, aunque esté pasado de moda, y necesita subirse el pantalón a los sobaquillos.

For the dad I used this Burda pattern, adding belt loops. He should have lived in another era where the trousers were worn above the navel :)

Y para el niño el mismo modelo que usé para su pantalón Mamma Mia!, pero con bolsillos a los lados y uno posterior con solapa.

And for the son I used the same pattern as I did for his Mamma Mia! trousers, adding the side pockets and back pocket with the flap.

Vista trasera del papá. Es bastante dificil para la ropa en general. Tiene que ser cómodo para poder moverse con total libertad.

Back view of the Dad. He is very peculiar about the fitting, and about clothes in general. They have to allow him to move freely.

Una Camisetita. A little Tee

¡Hola de nuevo! Os voy a aburrir con los tops, a no ser que Ana de ¿Que puedo hacer con Esto? decida hacer un cambio de armario conmigo :)

He estado dándole al punto jersey, que no se me da muy bien. ¡Hala, a practicar!

Sería más facil con una remalladora, pero el dinero que tenía destinado a comprarla en el Lidl cuando saliera me lo he gastado en este perfume: Soir de Lune by Sisley. Mis acabados no serán perfectos pero voy a oler de bien...

Hello again! I´m going to bore you with tops, I´m afraid!

I´ve been working with knits. I´m not very good with them so it is time to practice.

It would be easier with an overlock, but I spent the money I had aside for that purpose buying this delicious perfume Soir de Lune by Sisley. Now my finishes won´t be great, but I will smell yummy! :)

He usado este patrón, mezclando la versión gris oscuro con la del  gris claro. De esta última he usado la linea del bajo

I used this pattern, the dark grey version, for the sleeves and neckline and the light grey for the hemline.

Y lo demás fue solo: Como el cuello quedaba muy desbocado le puse un cuello-contraste con la tela que me había quedado del Kangaroo, y ya puestos, también al bajo...¿Y no quedaría mono un bolsillito? Anda, que tambien le puedo poner unas mangas recogidas con trabilla... Seguro que sabeis de lo que os hablo ;)

And the rest worked itself out: As the neck was slipping down my shoulders I made a wide neckband in a contrasting colour, left over from my Kangaroo, And as I was at it, I added the hemline too...And wouldn´t it be cute to have a little pocket?, and what about some sleeve bands with a placket? Sure you know what I´m talking about...;)

De verdad tengo las piernas torcidas? Quiero pensar que es que estoy andando!

Esa banda que llevo en la muñeca, es el primer cuello que le hice, que era una tira larga. Yo pensaba que al ser jersey se adaptaría al cuello. Pues no. Quedaba para arriba. Pues nada. Cuando no lo llevo yo en la muñeca, lo lleva mi hija de diadema.

That band I´m sporting on my wrist is the first neckband. Very naively I thought that a straight band of knit would follow my neck contour...ha!

Detalle manguil con trabilla y botón, probablemente heredado de mi madre, que me lo da todo. ¡Hola mami!

Sleeve detail with placket and button. Button inherited from my mom who always gives me everything, even if I don´t ask for it. Hi mom!

Girl´s Dress, Vestido Niña. BurdaStyle 06/2012 #146

¡Muy buenas! Hoy os traigo un vestidito de niña, para variar, y para limpiar mi conciencia de madre amantísima.
Para limpiarla completamente he usado la tela más bonita que tenía en el armario, comprada en una tienda que siempre visito en Santander, Hilos y Labores, porque siempre tiene preciosidades y cuya dueña es un encanto y  me ayuda a elegir y menos mal, porque si no yo me pierdo entre tanta belleza.

Esta vez hasta me ayudó a escoger modelo, sacó su Burda de Junio 2012 y me mostró este modelo. Perfecto para mi hija, que le gustan las cosas sueltas y perfecto para mí con esa pechera y esas mangas que le da un toque más formal y, vale, sí, pijo :)

Hello ladies! I made a dress for my ever growing daughter. She needs clothes and I need to clean my conscience from all the selfish sewing. Just to make a thorough cleaning I used the prettiest fabric I had in my stash, bought in a Patchwork shop in Santander. The owner of the shop also pointed out this pattern, when I bought it back in Easter.

Hacer el vestido es bastante simple, solo dos pelotas de dificultad Burda, una vez hecha la pechera va solo.
Aviso a navegantas: Las sisas van pequeñas, por si alguien se anima...
Donde he podido he usado costuras francesas, para que quede bonito por dentro.

It is quite a simple pattern, only two black balls by Burda standards. Once you finish the bib, it goes easy.
Just a little advise if you are thinking of making this one: The armholes are too small!
I used french seams where possible to make the inside look nice too.

Detalle de pechera y botoncitos forrados. Ultimamente prefiero forrar los botones que comprar los normales, porque nunca encuentro lo que busco.

A close-up of the bib with the loops and the bound buttons. Lately I prefer to bound buttons than buy regular ones, as I can never find what I´m looking for.

Y detalle de la tela, que se arrugó después de un rato de jugar, pero se puede apreciar la suprema belleza de esas libélulas y esas flores...Tiene el color dorado que no se ve muy bien, pero ahí está.

And a close-up of the fabric. It is a bit wrinkled after a day playing, but you can appreciate the pretty dragonflies and the gorgeous colours

Conclusión: Me he pasado todo el día mirándo a mi hija y agobiandola diciendola lo guapísima que estaba. Las tres primeras veces me dió las gracias...las 145 restante, me miró con cara de "ya te vale, mami" 
Otra conclusión: quiero uno para mí!

In short: I´ve spent the day looking at my daughter and smothering her by saying how pretty she looked. The first three times she said "Thank you"....the other 145 times she just looked at me with that expression that said "that´s awful nice, mom...like AWFUL"
Another conclusion: I want one for me!

Kangaroo. Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics

¡Hola señoras y señoritas costureras! ¿Algún señor? ahem! ¿Como va la costura primaveral? Yo ya he decidido que lo que necesito son tops, así que me he puesto a ello a todo correr.

Lo que os traigo no será del gusto de todos, lo sé, pero yo estoy encantada con el libro de Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics by Tomoko Nakamichi. Me lo paso muy bien jugando al "corta y pega" con los patrones.

De todo el libro este es el que más me llamaba la atención, así que era lo primero de mi lista en cuanto llegara el buen tiempo.

El tejido de camiseta y yo no nos llevamos muy bien, pero en este caso, las terminaciones no han quedado mal del todo

Hello ladies! How is the spring sewing going? 

I have decided I need more tops, so I´m looking for patterns and fabrics.

What I bring you today won´t be to everyone´s liking, I know that, but I just love this Pattern Magic Stretch Fabrics by Tomoko Nakamichi book. I have a great time playing "cut and paste" with the patterns. 

From the whole book this is what got my attention the first time I opened it, so it was bound to be my first make when the warm weather came. 

Knits and me are not the best frinds, but this time the finishes are not so bad

Lo único que me dió un poco de trabajo fué hacer el cordoncillo y las jaretas para introducirlo. Una vez hecho esto, lo demás fué volando.
Una cosita que tuve que añadir fueron las pinzas, por que en la sisa quedaba realmente desbocado. En las fotos se aprecian más arriba de lo que deberían ir, es por llevarlo mal. Las fotos fueron a todo correr antes de las clases.

Making the cord and encasing were the only things that gave me a bit of work, once done, the rest was easy.
I had to add darts. It was really flappy in the armholes.
In the photos they look too high up, but they are not so bad in real life :)

And the back side of the thingy. Great for concealing the spare tyres.

Y este es el patrón del Kangaroo, una vez terminado de cortar, retrazar etc. El corte en la espalda es la cintura.

This is the Kangaroo pattern, once I finished playing with it. The slash in the back is where the waist goes.

Pantalones de Setas. Mushroom Pants. What a trip!

¡Hola! En medio de esta locura que es Me-Made-May ´13, me ha dado tiempo de hacerme unos pantalones ¡Sorpresa! Otros pantalones si lo que yo necesito son tops.
La tela es un crepe muy finito, con un estampado de setas. En principio lo compré para la niña, pero no veía que podia hacerle, así que lo usé para mi. Modista egoista, sí.

Hello, ladies! I managed to finish some trousers. Yep, trousers. As if I needed more! 
I made them in a very thin crepe, printed with little mushrooms. I bought the fabric for my girl, but couldn´t think of anything made of crepe for girls so I selfishly used it for myself

La única nota interesante en este pantalón tipo pijama es el cruce del frente. En el patrón está la marca de donde poner el botón, es decir, hasta donde cruzarlo. Este paso es el último. No os fiéis, si os animáis a hacerlo: primero os los ponéis, y el cruce lo adaptáis a vuestras curvas.

The only interesting feature in this pajama style trousers is the crossing on the front. You can find in the pattern the mark where the cross should go, and where the button should be sewn. If you think about making these pants, my advise is try them on first and adapt the crossing to your curves.

Otra cosa sobre el cruce: En las instrucciones dice que hay que cerrar el cruce por dentro. Bueno, yo lo he cerrado tambien por fuera con puntadas pequeñitas, porque si no, al sentarte, se abren, y aunque no se vea nada, pues queda un poco raro.

Another thing about the crossing: The instructions say you have to sew the inside of it. I also close it with little hand-stitches on the outside. If you don´t, as you sit down it opens and it looks weird, and not very lady-like :)

Por último, el largo. Debería haberlos dejado caer más abajo, pero quemé la tela (Si, Lupe, no me recuerdes lo de planchar con trapito) :(
Dado que el agujerito estaba cerca de la base, he tenido que dejarlos así. Pantalones para llevar con zapato plano. La que no se consuela....

Lastly, the lenght. These are supposed to be longer but I burned the fabric. Please don´t tell me about ironing with a cloth, I knooooow! I just forgot ;D
But as the burning happened on the front near the hemline, I just had to leave them like this. 
I console myself thinking they are my flat-shoes trousers.

¡Hola! Pido disculpas por desaparecer no solo de mi blog, si no también de los vuestros. Ya sabeis que me gusta estar al día y comentar sobre las cosas que haceis, pero este mes estoy en el Me-Made-May´13 y el tiempo de una madre trabajadora es muy limitado, como bien sabeis todas, así que me he cogido una vacaciones del mundo blog.
He estado cosiendo, eso sí, y en realidad esto que os traigo está terminado hace más de una semana, pero no había tenido oportunidad de sacar fotos.

This list up there is the versions I loved from this trench-coat. I just had to buy the pattern, which I did last year. So many options to choose from, so many details!

Elegí la versión B, la negra en la foto, pero me salió una mezcla entre la B y la A, por que me confundí de marca al cortar el frente. Sin comentarios.

I wanted to make version B, the black one but now I have a mix from B and A. I got it wrong cutting the front piece. No comments :)

Aparte de esta modificación involuntaria, ya puestos le añadí en cinturón y los ojales los hice de sastre, usando en método de Coletterie . No han quedado perfectos, pero ahí están.

Apart from that involuntary modification, I added the belt, and bound buttonholes. They are far from perfect, but there you go!

¿Os acordais que dije que con estos patrones siempre tenía que meter mucho en las costuras para que me quedase bien, y que a partir de ese momento había decidido hacer la talla 10 en lugar de la 12? Pues toma ya, que esta debía ir bien, y mi trench me queda un poco "apretao"

I don´t know if you remember that I said that with these Vogue-McCalls patterns I always have to take in the seams to get a better fit, and that, starting with the next proyect I was going to cut a size 10. Well, I shouldn´t have. The coat is now in the tight side.

¿Y por qué, os preguntareis, me ha dado por hacerme un trench rojo de verano si ya tenía otra cosita muy mona que me ponía un montón porque era muy practica y adorable a rabiar?
Porque la salpiqué con lejía. A quien se le ocurre, andar con lejía cerca de la ropa que te gusta!

And why did I make this one if I had a really cute red summer jacket in the first place? Because I splashed this beauty with bleach. Like a goood splash! I tried dyieng it red again, to no avail.

Bueno, pues este es mi trench. Si alguien sabe de un método mejor para hacer los ojales de este tipo, por favor, no dejeis de indicármelo! Buena costura a todas!
