Cacharel Babydoll at Night

 Cada verano Ana Obregón hacía un posado en la playa, ¿os acordais? Yo iba por ese camino, haciendome un bikini cada año pero esta vez me ha tocado trabajar y la playa la he pisado poco. 

Lo que no iba a perdonar de ninguna manera era el "vestidaco" del verano. De ninguna manera.

In the past, I used to make a bikini each Summer and live in it (and some other RTW ones!) on the beach. This year I´m not going there very often as I have to work during the Summer months :(

But another "classic" of mine is the Dress! It wouldn't have been Summer without an ultrafeminine dress to wear at night.

La tela es un African Wax, un poco tiesa pero perfecta para este vestido con la falda de capa.

El patrón es el 128 del Burda 04/2014. Modelo de diseñador. Cacharel para ser exactos. Tiene mucho vuelo, claro, al ser de capa, pero tiene dos pliegues delante que hace que se reparta mejor.

The fabric is a quite stiff African Wax, but it's perfect for this dress with a full circle skirt.

The pattern is 128, Burda 04/21014. Designer pattern. Cacharel to be precise. It has a lot of volume, but there are two plaids on the front that makes it look less voluminous, more balanced.

Pero la mejor parte de este vestido es, sobre todo, la espalda. No tan complicada de hacer como parece, el único problema que me encontré fué quitarle 7 cm de la parte de la cintura para poder adaptarlo a mis medidas.

But the best part about this dress is the back. It was not as complicated as it looked, the only tricky part was shaving off 7cm from the waist, to adapt it to my measures.

Un vestido precioso para disfrutar de una noche especial de verano. Espero que esteis disfrutando de muchas de ellas vosotros también. Un abrazo a todas.

¡Hola! Soy Merche, la de Aventuras de Costuras, que cose poco, muy poco...¿os acordais de mí? No, ni respondais, que casi no me acuerdo ni yo!
Que me he hecho un vestido de primavera, con tela africana a ver que tal, y la verdad que bien.
El patrón es sencillo y me gustó para esta tela, aunque tuve tentaciones de hacerlo largo... igual cae también, pero con algo menos llamativo.

Hi! Do you remember me? No, don't answer, sometimes I don't even remember myself, when I used to sew and all that.
But last month I finish this dress with a surprisingly soft african wax fabric. It was actually not surprising at all, it was plainly more expensive so yes, the touch and the quality is quite different. I used this Laura Ashley pattern, that is very simple but also quite effective. I want to try the longer, sleeveless version. See if I can make the time for it.

Y después de hacerlo, lo llevamos de paseo a la Biblioteca nacional de Francia, un edificio impresionante lleno de libros, pero muchos!

And after making it, we took it to the Bibliotheque Nationale, which is an awesome building full of...erm, books!

Y también de paseo por el Sena, que está que se sale ultimamente y literalmente. Aquí os dejo una visión primaveral y otra invernal para que busqueis las siete diferencias.

¡Hola! Por fin os puedo enseñar el vestido de Nochevieja...a finales de Febrero. 

 Ya os dije que necesitaba un sitio especial para sacarle fotos, porque este vestido me gusta mucho.

Mi fotógrafo se encargó del escenario y pasamos una velada inolvidable, que ni Isabel Preysler con todos sus Ferreros Roché. La obra era "Lucrecia Borgia" de Victor Hugo, para las más curiosas. 

Hello! At last I can show you my New-Year's-Eve dress... at the end of February. 

Well, I wanted to show it to you in a nice environment, because I really like this dress, so we took it to the theater. La Comedie Française.

 I was totally shocked to find out that all the other people there that night have come to watch something other than my dress! Like a Victor Hugo's play, Lucrecia Borgia!

Just kidding! I enjoyed the play a lot. Staging and acting were superb.

Además la gente de este teatro es muy maja y decoraron toooodo el teatro con terciopelo granate para que hicera juego con mi vestido. Más lindos!

Besides, the whole theater was "dressed" in maroon velvet, matching my dress. Aren't they thoughtful?

Ya lo hice otras veces. Una que por lo visto es muy popular es esta: Vestido formal

Esta vez lo hice largo hasta los pies. Tuve que modificar el vuelo de la falda porque no había tela humana que aguantara esas anchuras. La tela la compré en París también y es un tricot con una caida estupenda unida a un estampado que me encanta. 

Los detalles están hechos con polipiel muy suavita, con la que ya me hice unos pantalones.

I've made it twice already. One of the versions seems quite popular:  Vestido formal

This time I made it really long. I had to sacrifice fullness for the sake of the lenght, though.

The fabric was bought in Paris too. It´s a knit with a great drape to it.

Details are fake leather, that is really soft to the touch. I've already made some trousers with it.

Hola, ya pasó Navidad! He estado viendo costuras navideñas por la blogosfera y confieso que me da un poco de vergüenza escribir esto. Yo solo he estado haciendo costura de supervivencia: cosas chandalosas para los críos o para mi y repeticiones. Nada que merezca la pena publicar.
Uno de los vestidos que he repetido ha sido este, AQUI/HERE teneis la otra versión, pero estaba tan desgastada por el uso y es un vestido tan calentito que cuando encontré un punto parecido ( aunque este es más verde-grisaceo, el otro era gris-gris, no es que en las fotos se note, pero bueno, un dato) lo repetí.

Hello, ladies!  Christmas came and went! I've been seeing some Christmas-sewing action around the blogosphere and I have to say your makes put me to shame as I write this. I've only been doing "survival sewing": things that I really need, or my kids need. I've been sewing tracksuit pants, sweaters and things like that. Nothing post-worthy.
I´ve repeated patterns, as is the case with this dress. Vogue 8946. I´ve made it before AQUI/HERE, but it was all worn out so I chose a similar fabric (this one is also grey, with some green hues, not that you can notice it in the pictures)

 

También he estado tejiendo. Encontré esta lana que estaba a mitad de precio, ya que solo quedaban dos "bolas" o como quiera que se llamen, no era suficiente para hacer un jersey, pero sí para un chal-bufanda. Es calentito y suave.

I've been knitting too: I found this yarn half price, only two "balls" (sorry, I'm still not familiar with knitting vocabulary) Not enough to make a jumper, so I decided to make a shawl/scarf/whatever. It is quite warm, actually! 

Y finalmente me compré una Ottobre. Bueno, no se...los diseños son muy ponibles pero a mi las instrucciones me quitan las ganas. Además la mayoria de los modelos están diseñado para coser con la remalladora y yo sigo en mis trece de no comprar una. Minimalista que es una.

And I finally bought one of those Ottobre magazines that are very popular amongst Spanish sewists. Well, I don't know... I find all the designs very wearable, I admit it, but the instructions put me off. Besides most of the models are designed to be sewn with a serger, and I refuse to buy one.

 

Necesitaba algún vestidín mono para dar clase y decidí probar el número 6, que tiene todas las costuras con remalladora y por fuera. Soy pura contradicción, lo sé.

 I needed something comfortable and nice for my classes and I decided to try number six which has all the seams sewn on the outside with a serger.

Mi tela de punto es como doble y tiene el estampado por el derecho y por el revés es totalmente negra. Hice todas las costuras de las piezas poniendo revés con revés y después de abrirlas con la plancha las aseguré con una costura al canto en zig-zag pequeñito.

My fabric had one side printed but the other side was entirely black, so I decided to sew the seams wrong side together and then open them and secure them with a zig-zag stitch.

La transición de las costuras del delantero al trasero fué estupendamente.

Y este vestido lo puedo llevar con mis nuevos zapatos de profe. Me encantan! Son cómodos y los puedo llevar con faldas!

I can wear it with my new teacher-shoes. I'm in love with them, they are so comfortable and they look good with skirts!

Más cositas: Tejí un jersey para mi fotógrafo: tenía que ser negro, porque casi siempre va de negro, pero añadí una banda de un color entre azul y gris que hacen juego con sus ojos.

Ah, y esos pantalones son  V8859

Los hice con falso cuero con stretch. La tela parece y se siente como cuero, y para coserla es un rollo. 

Me sobró un poco y con eso y tres metros de una tela bonita que encontré por ahí, hice mi vestido navideño de este año...pero esa es otra historia.

 

More things: I've knitted a sweater for my photographer. It had to be black, because he usually dress in black, but I added a greyish-blue band that goes with his eyes. 

Oh, and those pants I´m wearing are V8859 in a stretch fake leather fabric. They are comfortable and soft to touch.

I had some of that fabric left and with it and three meters of another fabric I made my Chirstmas dress...but that's another story.

The African-Italian-French Connection

Buenaaas! Aquí estoy otra vez, con patrón repe, que seguro reconocereis, pero que creo que merece la pena mostrar.

El patrón es el famosísimo Burda 101 02/2011 que ya hice AQUI/HERE

This time more fitted to my figure.

El cuerpo va forrado, pero la falda no, ya que la tela es bastante tiesa

The bodice is lined but not the skirt, as the fabric is quite stiff

Usé esta estampado africano que tenía un borde diferente y que he aprovechado para conseguir un efecto diferente en el bajo de la falda.

I had this African print that had a border (I know there is a word for this, but I cannot find it right now) and used it withwise to make the skirt

Donde está la conexiòn Africano-Italiano-francesa? Tela africana, modelito que recuerda a las maggioratas italianas de los cincuenta, llevado con mucho gusto por las calles de París.

So, where is the African-Italian-French connection?: African print, a dress like the ones a Maggiorata from the 50's would wear (I`m thinking of Gina Lollobrigida right now) happily donned to roam the streets of Paris!

Y esta soy yo diciendoles a las pavisosas de las modelos de Chanel que su ropa será más cara, pero la mía es más bonita... mudas se quedaron!

And this is me telling those Chanel models that their clothes might be more expensive, but mine is much nicer!! They couldn´t answer that! ;)

Leini Dress

Post totalmente técnico, pero llenito de fotos, aviso...

Este es mi vestido-prueba del patrón Leini, tal cual. Bueno, no, aquí ya había modificado el cuello, que en veranito me gusta un poco de escote. 7.5 cm más bajo

Totally technical post, but full of photos, I'm warning you...

This is my wearable muslin of the Leini. Size 38, only modification is the neckline, it was too high up for my taste. 7.5 cm down

Veis el pecho? No parece que, además de abundante está mal posicionado?...yo lo achaqué a que la cinturilla elástica caía bastante más arriba de mi cintura.

See my bust? Doesn't it look bad positioned and like too big? I thought the reason was that the elastic waist was hitting a much higher point than my natural waist.

En la espalda está bien, pero en los costados se curva hacia arriba para adaptarse al frente..

On the back is alright, but on the sides it makes a funny curve to adapt to the front...

Lo que hice fué bajarle 4cm. de la mitad del frente y solo 1cm de los lados, igual que en la espalda, que solo he bajado 1cm. Con una curva de sastre (o como se llame) dibujé el nuevo contorno tanto al forro como a la parte externa con su plieguecito.

También acorté la falda, pero no me acuerdo de los cm. 

I lowered the center front by 4cm, blending that to +1cm on the sides. The back was also lenghten by 1cm.

I also made the skirt shorter, but I can't recall by how much, sorry!

Y aquí está el resultado, que no es ninguna sorpresa, porque ya lo habíais visto antes. De frente todo bien...

And here is the result: no surprises here as you had already seen it in my previous post! The front view is cute...

Pero de lado..ay! Parece que he subido tres tallas de sujetador!!!

But the side view...OMG! Looks like I'm wearing three sizes up the bra scale!

Enormes! Creo que este tipo de vestido estaría genial para alguien con poco pecho

Huge! I truly believe this dress is perfect for women with an A or B cup...maybe my B cup is going on C, I don't know!

Pero nada que unos buenos macarons a juego no me haga olvidar al instante!

But nothing that some yummy and colour-coordinated macarons won't make me oblivious of!!

Y es un vestidito muy tierno para pasear por las calles de Montmartre como Amélie.

Y como me sobraba un retal, la señorita también se ha visto beneficiada de esta tela tan suavita. No se lo quita de puesto!
