Los pantalones de cuero son sinónimo de rock and roll.Si son negros y ceñidos mucho mejor. Es la cura anti- noñis para cualquier armario.
Leather pants are synonym with rock and roll. The tighter the better, and black. It is the anti-prudish cure to any wardrobe. No nonsense, no frills. 


Para hacerlos elegí un modelo sencillo donde los haya: dos pinzas atras, dos delante, cremallera al lado. Por cierto, para quien quiera hacerlos, el patrón viene hasta la rodilla, luego lo alargas tú misma, así que le puedes dar la forma abajo que tu quieras. Yo lo he dejado recto de modo que me pueda llevarlos por fuera de los botines.

To make them I used the simplest pattern for slim trousers: two darts front, two darts back, zipper to the side. The pattern is drawn to the knee, then you have to elongate it on your own. So there is a chance to make them a bit flared, straight... I chose to make them straight to wear them covering my ankle boots

Por razones económicas  éticas, el material del que están hechos los pantalones no es piel autentica. Es polipiel. Con este tipo de tejido no quieres hacer muchas costuras, porque rompe muy facilmente. Tambien es aconsejable usar el pegamento textil donde no sea absolutamente necesario pespuntear. Yo lo usé en los bajos y para mantener las vistas en su sitio. Para abrir las costuras, plancha suave con un pañito.

 

For economic ethical reasons I used leatherette. With this kind of thing you don´t want to make many seams, it breaks easily. It is advisable to use textile glue where possible. I used it in the hems and to keep the facings in place. To open the seams, use a piece of cloth between the iron and the leatherette, or your pants will fuse to the iron!

Vestido "Jardin Oriental"." Oriental Garden" Shiftdress

Hola a todas!Otro vestidito recien salido del horno. Tuve mis dudas durante el proceso de coserlo, pero aquí está en toda su gloria floripondia.
Para mi este estampado tiene un aire oriental, ¿no? Me enseñó esta tela la dueña de la tienda para que me hiciera unos pantalones, y se me fué la mente al modelito del Burda que ya tenia trazado y cortado en papel, pero para el que no podia encontrar ninguna tela. Al ser el patrón tan sencillo, pedía una tela con personalidad, pero sin ser demasiado chillona. Yo creo que esta en colores neutros con el toque de rojo-anaranjado es perfecto.
La pega es que la tela es un saten de algodón, así que incluso llevandolo con medias y botas, no creo que llegue a ponermelo después del otoño. Igual en plan cebolla, capa tras capa?

Hello everybody.
I´m delighted with my new dress. I had my doubts during the sewing process but here it is in all it´s flowery glory!
Is it just me or this print has an oriental air about it?. I fell in love with it at the fabric store. And thought about the Burda pattern I had already traced but couldn´t find the right thing for it.
 Being the pattern so simple I wanted a very distinctive print but in basic colours, and this fit the bill; but it is cotton sateen so even if I wear it with tights and boots I don´t think this can go further than the Autumn. Layering heavily perhaps?

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted Shift dress with long bust darts, back zipper and patch pockets

Pattern Sizing:  36-44

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Would it look like I´m blowing my own horn here if I´d say it looks better?

Were the instructions easy to follow?  Very easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?  Love the long bust darts, they seem to give that area a lift! I like the way the shoulders are constructed, sewn around the armholes then closing the shouders in a dart. First time for both. The shape of the sleeves is very nice too. The back is also shaped to follow the body contour.

Fabric Used:  Cotton sateen.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:   I ommited the patch-pockets and made them in-seam.The pattern provides the neck facings and I pondered on the possibility of lining it, but didn´t feel like it. Instead, just to weight the fabric down a little, I binded all the seams with bias tape.
I also ommited the zipper, as I didn´t need it with my slightly stretchy fabric

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?   I recommend it wholeheartedly if you want to try something different.

Conclusion:   Simple and  "trés chic". It has a very 70´s look to it that I just love. It is also very comfortable to wear.

Descripción del patrón: Vestido semi-entallado con pinzas largas al pecho, cremallera trasera y bolsillos de plastrón.

Se parece a la foto una vez terminado?  ¿sería demasiado presuntuoso decir que está más bonito que el de la foto? Pozí

¿Fueron las instrucciones fáciles de seguir? Si. Para empezar es un "paso a paso" de la revista, con fotos y diagramas a tuttiplen.

¿Que te gustó o disgustó especialmente del patrón? Me han encantado las pinzas. Parece que le dan una subidita al area del pecho. Tambien me gusta como están construidos los hombros. Con una pinza. Ha sido la primera vez que he hecho este tipo de pinzas y me ha encantado.

Tela usada: Saten de algodón.

Cambios en el patrón o de diseño que hayas hecho?: He cambiado los bolsillos de plastrón por bolsillos de costura, poniendolos justo debajo del comienzo de la pinza. El patrón trae las vistas del cuello y estuve considerando forrarlo. Me di cuenta que lo que necesitaba era un poquito de peso, asi que en lugar de forrarlo le puse bies en todos los margenes de costuras, bajo, etc. Tampoco he puesto la cremallera porque mi tela tiene algo de elasticidad.

Lo coserías otra vez? Se lo recomiendas a otras? Os lo recomiendo de corazón. Es facil y diferente y sienta de maravilla. Por cierto: disimula tripita!

Conclusión: Simple y "trés hic". Tiene un aire muy 70´s que me encanta. Y además es cómodo.
 

Brown Capris. Burda 07/2010 # 104

¡Hola a todas!
En uno de los comentarios sobre la camisa Chic, Moderna y Country, Ana de ¿Que puedo hacer con esto? me decia que estaría muy bien con unos pantalones marrones.

No sé si os ha pasado a vosotras tambien, que a los pocos dias de declararte "modistilla aficionada",y tras descubrir que va en serio , la gente:
A- Te pide que le cosas algo
B- te dona algunas telas de su coleccion, algun retal, o en este caso, un pantalón marron, cortado, con hilos flojos e hilvanado "como tiene que ser"
Gracias Amalia! Despues de más de dos años lo he sacado de la maleta de "donaciones" pero aquí está .

I got a comment from Ana of "que puedo hacer con esto? in the link above, telling me how the Burda Shirt would look good with brown trousers.
I don´t know if this happened to you too, but there are two reactions when you first declare yourself a "seamstess":
A- They ask you to sew something for them
B- You are the recipient of sewing donations: fabrics, notions, that you happily treasure, or as is the case here, brown trousers already cut, basted and marked. Thank you Amalia! After two years these see the light of day!

Es el mismo patrón que el de los negros Black is Black, Burda 07/2010 #104 
Pero la tela no tiene nada de elasticidad y es más gordita, así que no está tan pegado como los negros.

It is the same Burda pattern as the Black is Black trousers, in the link above. The difference with the black ones is that the fabric is not elastic and it´s thicker, so the fitting is not so perfect.

 No tenía intención de hacerlos "capris", pero para cortar la pieza lateral y el canesú de atrás me las ví negras, y al final tuve que sacrificar el largo.

I had no intention to get capris again, but for the side piece and the back yoke I had to put the front and back together, of the original pieces that is , then cut the pieces from it. I had to sacrifice the lenght.

 Aqui veis el el material que me fué legado. Me dió mucha pena quitar todos los hilos, vaya tabajo!
He terminado el interior y los bajos con un bies fabricado en casa, con un retal, me gusta la combinacion de estos dos colores.

Here is the "legacy". I finished some parts of the inside with this pretty bias tape I made from another scrap of fabric. I love this brown-teal combo

Yo sigo recomendando este pantalón para tipo pitillo, por los cortes. Todavía no he encontrado uno mejor...pero estoy buscando!

I insist on recommending this pattern to you. I couldn´t find a better one for slim-fit...but I´m still looking for it!

 Tengo que confesar una cosa: La camisa me la he comprado. Estaba buscando tela fina en ese color para hacer una y llevarla el Traje de tweed  y no la he encontrado.Ha sido un caso de absoluta necesidad!
I have to confess that I  bought the shirt I´m wearing in the photos. I´ve been looking everywhere for a thin fabric in that colour to wear with the Tweed suit.  but couldn´t find it, so this is a case of urgent need. ;)

 En otro orden de cosas la "sesión de afotos" ha sido muy dificil esta vez por que había una gimnasta con ganas de salir, ¡con bocata de queso y todo! (Soy incapaz de agrandar, si la quieres ver mejor pinchala, please!)

Moving on to something else, this time the "photo-shoot" has been a bit difficult with this little gymnast, cheese sandwich in hand appearing everywhere.

Chic y Moderna y un poco Country también. Burda 10/2012 #122

¡Hola a todos!
Esta es mi versión del modelito de la portada del Burda de Octubre 2012, donde los titulares rezan: Chic y Moderna, en mi caso tambien un poco "country"
No tenia grandes expectativas para esta bambula...si, habeis leido bien: bambula. Para mi es como una tela mitologica, como el loden batanado o los géneros esponjosos. Hace tiempo queria hacer un vestido que pedia esa tela... nadie habia oido hablar de ella, ni sabia de su existencia. Un buen día la encontré en unas ofertas de telas: 2 metros, por favor! Quise hacerle un vestido a mi hija pero no se dejó. "¿Vainilla y chocolate? Ni en helado!

Hello everyone!
So this is my rendition of the shirt that is in the cover of Burda 10/2012, Spanish edition, where the headlines read "Chic and Modern" I just threw a bit of country too.
I really didn´t have high hopes for this bambula... yes, bambula: it´s like a mythological fabric to me. When I started sewing I wanted to make a dress that called for this fabric, but nobody had heard of it, nor knew of its existence. Then out of the blue I found it in a sale: 2 meters please! I thought of making a dress for my daughter but she wouldn´t hear any of it. Vanilla and chocolate? Not even as ice-cream flavor!

Así que me dije: hazte algo para los vaqueros. Si hasta los botones de los mismos tono tienes! Y me contesté: ¡Vale! pero que sea facilito y raro, sobre todo raro!

So I said to myself: make a shirt to go with jeans. You even have the buttons in the exact same shades. And I answered (to myself, naturally) Alright! just something easy and weird, yeah! I like unusual.

Lo que mejor se me ha dado ha sido casar los cuadros.
Las solapillas esas van flotando por la vida. A mi amiga Luz le ha encantado la camisa...porque a ella tambien le gusta lo raro ;)

The best thing I made here was matching the plaids.
Those little "lapels" go floating about, but they don´t do weird things. You see, nothing happens when you pose yourself silly!

Cosas que destacar: Es muy facil de hacer. Tiene unas pinzas verticales anchisimas en el delantero, y más discretas por detras.
A quien se la recomiendo: a alguien que quiera hacer su primera camisa sin meterse en idems de once varas: te ahorras los cuellos y las aberturas de las mangas...y a quien le agobien los cuellos en general.

Stand out features of this pattern: Easy to sew. It has really wide vertical darts on the front and thinner in the back.
Recommended to: Someone who is thinking of making their first shirt without the fuss of making a proper neck band or sleeve-cuffs. Also to those of you that don´t feel comfortable with neckbands in general

 

Quiero presentaros a nuestro nuevo miembro de la familia: Se llama Marte y la recogimos en el refugio de animales de Algeciras donde los voluntarios hacen un trabajo extraordinario, y donde hay muchos perros y gatos esperando ser adoptados.

 

 I want to introduce a new member of our family. Her name is Marte. We got her from a dog shelter. She is two years old and such a good girl!

The "Oh, Bhoy" Skirt. Burda 02/2011 #120 B

Aqui estamos otra vez mi bouclé y yo. Cuando terminé la chaqueta aún me sobraba medio metro más o menos, y contrariando todos los consejos que tan amablemente me dais, tenía que hacer algo para conjuntar...o no.
Pensé en unos shorts o una faldita corta. Revisé cada Burda que poseo y encontré este modelito. Una falda corta más simple hubiera quedado sosa, y una falda lápiz demasiado seria (ademas no me daba la tela) Pero esta es perfecta. La pala del medio y los bolsillos le dan el aire juvenil que es exactamente lo que buscaba.

Hello again!
When I finished the "If I was" jacket I still had half a meter left of the bouclé and against all  good advise I just needed to make something out of it to go with the jacket. I thought of shorts, or a little skirt. Then I went through every single Burda magazine I own and found this pattern. And that was it!
I think a simpler skirt would have look boring; a pencil skirt too serious. But this one is just right. The girlishness of the front pleat and the pockets were the eact thing I was aming for.

Burda 02/2011 #120B

 

La única cosa extra que he hecho ha sido forrar la falda. Tambien me dio por terminar todo con bies. Incluso los bolsillos y eso que no se ven por que quedan entre la falda y el forro

My skirt is lined, that´s the only extra thing I did. Also I got carried away ending the seams with bias tape,  pockets included, even though you´ll never see them as they are sandwiched between the fabric and the lining.

Tambien tuve que alargar la falda 4 cm. Queria una falda juvenil, no ir por ahí como Ana Obregón.
Oh! I had to make it longer too, by 4 cm. How short was that in the first place???

Empecé la falda con muchas ganas hasta que llegué a los bolsillos y entonces me desinflé por un par de días. Encontré una buena excusa para dejarlo de lado y me puse a ver los videos de un humorista escocés (el link está abajo por si le interesa a alguien y es de donde he sacado el nombre para la falda) Despues de un par de dias le eché valor al asunto y comprobé como es coser unos bolsillos ribeteados con bouclé. Una juerga, vamos! Las que lo hayais hecho sabeis a lo que me refiero.

I started sewing it with gusto, then when I came to the pockets deal, I just couldn´t see the end of it! At that point I got seriously sidetracked: Looking for tourist destinations for the family I came across this:    Danny Bhoy. Visitor´s guide to Scotland . Hilarious! So I just went and watched all his videos. Forgot all about the pockets and holidays for a couple of days. Hence the name of the skirt. It was ages since I laughed like this. My husband was concerned: "are you alright, love?"while tears went running down my cheeks..
But I digress! To sew that kind of pockets with boucle was a nightmare!  I think they look pretty good now. (I opened it a bit so that you can look inside)

Al final estoy contenta con el resultado. Es ponible, casual y chic al mismo tiempo (lo de Moderna y chic se lo dejo al Burda) y tiene mucho potencial por que queda bien con tacones, zapato plano o botas.
I´m quite happy with how this have turned out, something you can wear that is casual and chic at the same time. There is a lot of potencial here: it looks good with heels or flats and boots too. Mayor issue for me now my pupils are 5 to 7 years old. You have to move around the class a lot!

Y ahora la prueba de fuego: chaqueta y falda juntas...trrrrrrrrrr  (eso es un redoble de tambor) ¿erá demasié, pareceré una paquete sorpresa?

And now let´s see how does it look with the jacket. There were warnings against this...what do you think? Too much?

MI Vestido Burdeos.MY Maroon Dress. Burda 08/2012 # 102

Ya es otoño en mi casa! A partir de ahora ya pueden ir bajando las temperaturas por que yo ya solo quiero coser cositas de otoño-invierno.
It´s already autumn in Chez Moi! From now on the temperatures better start dropping because I´ll be just sewing for Autumn-Winter
No suelo llevar muchos vestidos en invierno porque soy muy friolera, sin embargo este era mi preferido del numero de Agosto y hubo la feliz coincidencia que mi madre llego de Mexico con esta tela que es una especie de crep de lana con algo de elasticidad, con una caida estupenda, que no se arruga, con un color muy "trendy" y encima es obediente con la plancha a la hora de abrir costuras etc...pues, órale!

I´m not usually one for dresses in winter, I´m very sensitive to the cold; however this was my favourite pattern from Burda 08/2012 and there was also the happy coincidence that my mother came back from Mexico with this fabric: A kind of  stretch wool crepe, that hangs well, doesn´t crease, in a very trendy colour, so, Orale!

Lo que me atrajo de este modelo, que se llama Vestido Imperio por cierto, fueron los canesues de la cintura, las mangas y la largura y forma de la falda. Además del cuello pico que creo que es el que mejor me queda

What attracted me from this dress, called Empire Dress by the way, was the yokes, the sleeves and the shape and lenght of the skirt. Apart from the V neck.

Me daba un poco de canguelo no poder hacer coincidir las costuras, que es lo que suele pasar en estos casos, pero me apliqué mucho y lo conseguí. No se aprecia mucho pero ahí estan casaditas,casaditas.

I was a little worried I wouldn´t be able to match the seams, you see: I´m out of sewing practice for the last couple of months, so I put a lot of effort, and there they are matching-little-seams! So proud of you!

Forré el vestido entero, pero Burda solo pedia forrar el cuerpo.¡Ya! y luego en invierno te lo pones con las medias y la falda se pone a trepar por ellas, si es que no se en que piensan!

I lined the dress completely. Burda only asked for the bodice. And then comes winter and you wear the dress with tights and the skirt starts climbing up your tights... Complete lining!

Aqui esta el vestido sin cinturón y con mis pelos de loca.

Y aqui sin pelo y punto. Estuve a punto de no ponerle las mangas, porque tenia una pinta muy elegante sin ellas, pero que narices, me sentia atrevida y audaz! Tambien tuve mis dudas con el largo de la falda: mi zancada es muy larga porque voy con prisa a todos lados, y me imagine que tener la falda bajo la rodilla seria incomodo. He ido al Mercadona y he hecho" 100 metros pasillos"  y ha pasado la prueba!

Here without the hair! I almost didn´t attach the sleeves, the dress looked really well without them, but I was feeling adventurous. Same goes to the length: my stride is usally very long, I was worried that I would feel unconfortable wearing something below the kneecap. But I actually like it!

 Yyyy tambien puedes agacharte a recoger cositas del suelo, dada mi condicion de madre eso es esencial. Por cierto el Van Gogh de encima de la chimenea no es un original :) Fué uno de los deberes madre-hija del cole el año pasado. Trabajé trabajamos como locas con los pasteles

Trying to strike a Victoria Beckham pose, to no avail...this dress makes me think of her, maybe the lenght

Mangas. No usé las hombreras porque ya tengo buenos hombros de serie, y aunque los 80 siempre tendran un lugar especial en mi corazón, no me gusta llevarlas.

Sleeves. I didn´t use shoulder pads as recomended. My shoulders are broad enough and although I love the 80´s so much, I don´t like wearing them anymore.

Espero que os haya gustado. Una pregunta: alguien sabe por qué blogger no te deja ampliar más que una sola foto?

Blusón para Pinito del Oro. A Little Circus Tunic

Me habia sobrado un poco de tela de haber forrado las mochilas de los niños el año pasado, pero era tan alegre que no he podido resistir hacerle algo a la peque.

I had some scraps of fabric, leftovers from lining my children school-bags last year. But it was such a happy fabric I just couldn´t resist making something for my daughter.

 

El canesu blanco tambien es tela sobrante de otro proyecto, el unico que he hecho con Espejito, Espejito.aqui

The white yoke is also a scrap from the only proyect I ever made from Espejito, Espejito. here

He usado el patron 146 del Burda 05/2012, que ya me habia servido para hacer este top

No hay necesidad de cierre atras. Cabe la cabeza de sobra

No need to cut to pieces in the back to place buttons. A head fits through the hole just fine.

Lo terminé con bies en el cuello y le puse bies con cordón. Y, claro, costuras francesas. Es que ya las meto en todo lo que puedo, por que no tengo remalladora y el zigzag me pone los pelos de punta.

I finished the neck with bias tape, piping in the yoke seam, and french seams all over. I use those frenchies whenever I can, as I haven´t got a seger and I like the inside looking almost as nice as the outside.

Burda 09/2012 The 60´s and the 70´s

 

Muchas gracias a todas las que me habeis avisado que salia en el Burda de septiembre con dos fotos.Es un honor compartir página con tan buenas costureras.

I want to thank those who told me two of my creations were  featured in the September Burda (Spanish issue) It was an honour to share the page with such great seamstresses.

 

Sin embargo a mi se me siguen amontonando las revistas, sin que pueda empezar a coser. Algun patron he sacado, pero solo eso. A ver si cuando empiece el cole!

Still, Burda issues are piling up and I´m not sewing anything from them, I traced some patterns waiting for a sewing-friendly enviroment to come, maybe when school starts?

 

Siempre estoy dando la lata con que Septiembre suele ser el mas que más me gusta de la revista, y despues de ver este, reitero lo dicho.

I´m always saying my favourite Burda Month is September and this year is no exception.

This Tuxedo jacket is my favourite. Useful:no, wearable: no. I love it!

Can anybody tell me what to mix it with besides the skinny jeans?

 

Parka 129.Tres pelotas y media de dificultad. Pero esto si es más ponible. La chaqueta de arriba tambien es de la misma categoria.

This parka, lined with knit is more wearable, but it´s rated as difficult as the tuxedo.



 

Este vestido viene en tres versiones. A mi me gusta la corta, para compensar las mangas largas. Este hay que hacerlo porque: 1- es facil, 2- viene el patron rosa 3- instrucciones con dibujos en el taller de costura.

This dress comes in three versions. I like the shorter one to compensate the long sleeve and the boxiness of it. It´s easy, the pattern is highlighted and there are step by step instructions with drawings! (I´m very visual). I mean, it´s a must!

 

Estamos de suerte: El cursillo de costura de este mes es para hacerte este abrigo, para mi gusto mejor hacerse una gabardina. Bueno, es monisimo de todas formas

A stroke of luck! This month´s sewing course features this coat that to me would look better as a trench coat. Pretty, useful, love it too!

Me encanta este vestido, para el verano. Soy muy friolera y en invierno muy raramente llevo vestidos o faldas.

I like this dress a lot, for the summer. In winter I rarely wear dresses or skirts.

Al menos esta monada no me estresa por que ya tengo uno igual (Vogue 8489)

At least I won´t get stressed about finding the time to make this one, as I already have it (Vogue 8489)
