Cacharel Babydoll at Night

 Cada verano Ana Obregón hacía un posado en la playa, ¿os acordais? Yo iba por ese camino, haciendome un bikini cada año pero esta vez me ha tocado trabajar y la playa la he pisado poco. 

Lo que no iba a perdonar de ninguna manera era el "vestidaco" del verano. De ninguna manera.

In the past, I used to make a bikini each Summer and live in it (and some other RTW ones!) on the beach. This year I´m not going there very often as I have to work during the Summer months :(

But another "classic" of mine is the Dress! It wouldn't have been Summer without an ultrafeminine dress to wear at night.

La tela es un African Wax, un poco tiesa pero perfecta para este vestido con la falda de capa.

El patrón es el 128 del Burda 04/2014. Modelo de diseñador. Cacharel para ser exactos. Tiene mucho vuelo, claro, al ser de capa, pero tiene dos pliegues delante que hace que se reparta mejor.

The fabric is a quite stiff African Wax, but it's perfect for this dress with a full circle skirt.

The pattern is 128, Burda 04/21014. Designer pattern. Cacharel to be precise. It has a lot of volume, but there are two plaids on the front that makes it look less voluminous, more balanced.

Pero la mejor parte de este vestido es, sobre todo, la espalda. No tan complicada de hacer como parece, el único problema que me encontré fué quitarle 7 cm de la parte de la cintura para poder adaptarlo a mis medidas.

But the best part about this dress is the back. It was not as complicated as it looked, the only tricky part was shaving off 7cm from the waist, to adapt it to my measures.

Un vestido precioso para disfrutar de una noche especial de verano. Espero que esteis disfrutando de muchas de ellas vosotros también. Un abrazo a todas.

The African-Italian-French Connection

El cuerpo va forrado, pero la falda no, ya que la tela es bastante tiesa

The bodice is lined but not the skirt, as the fabric is quite stiff

Usé esta estampado africano que tenía un borde diferente y que he aprovechado para conseguir un efecto diferente en el bajo de la falda.

I had this African print that had a border (I know there is a word for this, but I cannot find it right now) and used it withwise to make the skirt

Donde está la conexiòn Africano-Italiano-francesa? Tela africana, modelito que recuerda a las maggioratas italianas de los cincuenta, llevado con mucho gusto por las calles de París.

So, where is the African-Italian-French connection?: African print, a dress like the ones a Maggiorata from the 50's would wear (I`m thinking of Gina Lollobrigida right now) happily donned to roam the streets of Paris!

¿Que Prendas Necesito? Vestido Trotero Burda 03/2011 #130

La semana pasada me salté el reto ¿Que prendas necesito? por falta de tiempo. Era la "Blusa Formal" y yo me he quedado sin ella. Podeis ver las blusas que se han hecho las participantes AQUI/HERE.

Peeeero el vestido "trotero" no me lo podía perder. Porque es que no tenía ninguno. Casi todos mis vestidos de invierno son para ir muy puesta. ¡Solucionado!

Last week I missed the challenge ¿Que prendas necesito? for lack of time. It was the "Formal blouse" to go with the formal trousers and I´m left blouse-less: boo-hoo! You can see what the other participants made AQUI/HERE

Buuut the "All-Purpose dress" is something I couldn´t miss. All my winter dresses are a bit too elegant to be worn with flat shoes for example. I think this one is just perfect!

Para encontrar lo que quería he tenido que poner patas arriba todos las revistas y todos los patrones hasta que dí con uno que me pareció cómodo y bonito. ¡Ah! y sencillito de hacer.

Nunca me hubiera fijado en este modelito de no haber sido por el reto. Yo creo que no tengo ni un polo en mi armario ni en el frigo,( lo siento tenia que hacer el chiste, es superior a mí) me agobian los cuellos en general. Pero a partir de ahora tela de jersey que encuentre, polito que me hago. Este mismo modelo pero hasta la cadera.

To find a suitable pattern for an easy to wear dress I had to go though all my magazines (they are watching a lot of action this autumn!) until I found a patten that seemed comfortable and nice,oh! and easy to make!

I would have never give this pattern a second look if it wasn´t for the challenge. I don´t think I own a single polo-shirt-style item. I don´t like how they look on me. But after I finished this dress I think I will be using this pattern again to make a couple of jumpers.

Es bastante suelto, pero yo creo que por definición un vestido trotero no tiene que ser entalladísimo ¿No?

Tambien estoy contenta con el jersey que he usado: estaba de oferta a 2 euros el metro...y huele a oveja mojada cuando lo planchas así que supongo que lleva algo de lana. Es calentiiiitoooo!

It is a loose dress but I guess that, by definition, an "all-purpose" dress cannot be too fitted, can it?

I´m also quite happy with the knit I used: I found it at 2 euros per meter...and it smells like damp sheep when you iron it, so I suppose it conteins a fair amount of wool. It is warm!

Y la tapeta del cuello que es lo único que da un poco de trabajo en este vestido.

Usé snaps de martillazo que ya soy adicta.

The polo placket is the only thing that needs some attention in the making of this dress.

It turned out quite good despite some problems, hence that face of mine. By the way, if someone needs a tuto for this kind of placket I have a little tutorial AQUI/HERE

I used hammer on snaps. I´m addicted!

Detalles que me gustan: tapé las costuras del cuello con bies, cosido a mano y tanto las mangas como el bajo van rematados con aguja doble. 

Details that I like: I hid the seams at the neckline with bias. Never did it before and I like it!

Also the hem and sleeves are finished with double needle.

Me gusta por que es muy cómodo, calentito, vistosillo con esos colores pero no es perfecto:

Sewing the Trends Once More. Lace Shorts. Shorts de Encaje. And a Hatoto Bag

Hola, guapas, ¿que tal el verano, ?

Desde que Justine de Sew Country Chic, me propuso lo de coser tendencias lo he parado de darle vueltas a esto. Es lo que pasa cuando te pones al leer el Cuore.

Hello, dear friends, how is the Summer going?

Ever since Justine of Sew Country Chic, contacted me to Sew the Trends , I have been mulling over  this. I blame all the fashion magazines I´ve read lately

Y me pareció un crimen no hacerme algo así antes de que: A- Acabe este verano donde esta tendencia desaparecerá o B- Ya no esté en edad. (Que esto seguro que Anita Obregón lo llevaría encantada de la vida)
Además tenia un metrito de este encaje, que el año pasado quiso ser un vestidito sencillo, pero se quedó así, porque realmente no sabía como "atacar" el proyecto. Como coserlo.

Entonces vi el traje  de Allison´s con encaje, que no os podeis perder porque es la pera limonera, y ella me dió la clave: Tratar el encaje y forro como si fuera la misma tela. Y eso es lo que hice. Pero primero hice el bajo a el forro, cada pieza por separado y recorté el encaje para hacer las "conchitas"

And I though it a crime not to give it a try before the trend disappears.
Besides, I had a meter of this fabric from last year that wanted to be a little dress, but never got to it because I really didn´t know how to "attack" the proyect. Never sewed lace before.

Then I saw Allison´s awesome lace Wedding Outfit and she gave me the tip: Treat the lace and lining as a single layer. And so I did. But first I made the hem on the lining separately on each piece. And I  trimmed the lace to scallops.

Esta vez no hay repotaje, chicas. Los fotógrafos tenían prisa por ir a tomar un helado a la plaza del pueblo.

Helos aquí. Pantaloncillos de encaje. A mi padre no le gustan. Dice que parece que voy en ropa interior de la de antes.

Today my photographers were in a hurry to go for an icecream to the town square. 
So here they are, them lace shorts. My dad don´t like them. He feels they look too much like old underwear.

El patrón es Burda Style 06/2011 número 111. Hay tres versiones en diversos largos o con cintitas para anudar. Yo a estos no les he puesto ningún extra. Ni bolsillos, con lo que me gustan.

The parttern is Burda Style 06/2011, number 111. There are three versions of these shorts with different lenghts, little ties on the sides. There are no "extras" on mine. Not even pockets!

Estos son los shorts que tengo hechos con este patrón, que me encanta: Uno rojo que va con casi todo, uno de rallitas que marea en foto pero que va, ese sí, con todo, y estos nuevos ¡que no me van con nada!

These are the shorts I made using that pattern, that I love. The red ones, slightly longer, they go with almost everything. The one with the thin stripes: those go with everything in my closet, and this whimsical ones that don´t go with absolutely anything!

En otra linea de acción, me he hecho un bolso usando ESTE patrón de Yoshimi del blogYoshimi The Flying Squirrel . Me encanta esta mujer, porque tiene una elegancia especial. 

He metido la pata al hacerlo, pero de todas formas me encanta!

In other news I´ve been making a bag using THIS pattern from Yoshimi The Flying Squirrel . I love her blog and the things she creates, so elegant and classy!

I didn´t make it good, but I love it as it is!

Peasant Blouse...What Was I Thinking! Top Estilo Mejicano (ya quisiera yo)

¿Quieres aumentar un par de tallas de pecho sin pasar por el cirujano?

Y esto soy yo. Algo ha ido realmente mal:
1. Mi batista no debe ser como la suya, por lo visto la mía tiene más cuerpo. Además como lo del frunce se me da mal, hice un montón de pequeños pliegues.
2. Las mangas. Esas si las fruncí, pero es que eran enooormes. Son mangas de campana. De campana de Notre Dame, por lo menos. Ahí cabe Quasimodo y las gargolas y se pueden hacer un fiestón.

And this is me. Something went completely wrong here:
1. My batiste must be different from hers. Mine has more body to it. Besides that, as I´m so bad at gathering I pleated the "skirt" part.
2. The sleeves. I did gather those, But, my gosh, they´re HUGE! They are bell-sleeves. Like in Notre-Dame bells? They could house a party for Quasimodo and his gargoyle friends :)

La cantidad de maquillaje que llevo en las fotos es proporcional a la ilusión que me ha hecho coser la prenda. En este caso cero patatero.
The ammount of make up I wear is proportional to the excitement I get when the garment is finish. Zero this time.

Lo único bueno: Que por fín he puesto a trabajar las puntadas decorativas de mi máquina.

The only good thing: I used, at last, some of the decorative stitches in my sewing machine. Very entertaining!

He intentado arreglar las mangas frunciendolas en un puño. Mal. Despues recortándolas un poco. Peor.
Finalmente las he descosido y lo he cerrado con bies azul marino.
De eso no hay fotos. Con estas ya os haceis una idea. ¿no?

I tried fixing the sleeves, gathering the bottom in a cuff. No way! Then cutting them shorter...they were sticking out. So I just removed them and finished the edged with navy blue bias tape. I didn´t take photos of that. You can have an idea just looking at these!

Pantalones de Setas. Mushroom Pants. What a trip!

¡Hola! En medio de esta locura que es Me-Made-May ´13, me ha dado tiempo de hacerme unos pantalones ¡Sorpresa! Otros pantalones si lo que yo necesito son tops.
La tela es un crepe muy finito, con un estampado de setas. En principio lo compré para la niña, pero no veía que podia hacerle, así que lo usé para mi. Modista egoista, sí.

Hello, ladies! I managed to finish some trousers. Yep, trousers. As if I needed more! 
I made them in a very thin crepe, printed with little mushrooms. I bought the fabric for my girl, but couldn´t think of anything made of crepe for girls so I selfishly used it for myself

La única nota interesante en este pantalón tipo pijama es el cruce del frente. En el patrón está la marca de donde poner el botón, es decir, hasta donde cruzarlo. Este paso es el último. No os fiéis, si os animáis a hacerlo: primero os los ponéis, y el cruce lo adaptáis a vuestras curvas.

The only interesting feature in this pajama style trousers is the crossing on the front. You can find in the pattern the mark where the cross should go, and where the button should be sewn. If you think about making these pants, my advise is try them on first and adapt the crossing to your curves.

Otra cosa sobre el cruce: En las instrucciones dice que hay que cerrar el cruce por dentro. Bueno, yo lo he cerrado tambien por fuera con puntadas pequeñitas, porque si no, al sentarte, se abren, y aunque no se vea nada, pues queda un poco raro.

Another thing about the crossing: The instructions say you have to sew the inside of it. I also close it with little hand-stitches on the outside. If you don´t, as you sit down it opens and it looks weird, and not very lady-like :)

Por último, el largo. Debería haberlos dejado caer más abajo, pero quemé la tela (Si, Lupe, no me recuerdes lo de planchar con trapito) :(
Dado que el agujerito estaba cerca de la base, he tenido que dejarlos así. Pantalones para llevar con zapato plano. La que no se consuela....

Lastly, the lenght. These are supposed to be longer but I burned the fabric. Please don´t tell me about ironing with a cloth, I knooooow! I just forgot ;D
But as the burning happened on the front near the hemline, I just had to leave them like this. 
I console myself thinking they are my flat-shoes trousers.

Muy buenas. ¿Ya os está llegando la primavera? ¿Las alergias bien? Aquí está saliendo el sol y estamos todos como caracoles, aprovechando cada minuto.
Quiero agradeceros mucho, muchísimo todos los comentarios que me habeis dejado sobre la Blusa Esmeralda/Emerald Blouse. Voy a tener que haceros caso y llenar el armario de color verde, un color que nunca me llamó la atención y ahora resulta que va a ser mi color favorito.
Como tenía más tela como la de la blusa, seguí con el proyecto del no- vestido de "Expiación". Un quiero y no puedo más ponible. Primero pensé en hacer una falda acampanada, pero al final tras enseñarle la tela a Charo de Cosiendo y Aprendiendo empezó a mandarme fotos de pantalones Palazzo, o Marlene...anchos en cualquier caso y ya dejé de pensar en faldas. De todos ellos, este, con 70 cm en el bajo, es el que elegí.

Hello! How is Spring going? I want to thank you all for your kind comments on my  Blusa Esmeralda/Emerald Blouse. I didn´t know green was a colour that suited me so well, but from now on it will be my favourite.
I had a lot of green stuff left from the blouse, so I carry on with my proyect "The non-dress of Atonement". Something more wearable. First I thought of a long skirt, but then Charo from Cosiendo y Aprendiendo sent me a lot of ideas for Marlene or Palazzo or whatever the name these pants have. From all of them I chose this ones from Burda as they had the widest hem.

A la modelo creo que la pusieron uno de tres tallas más grandes que la suya, porque los mios quedan más estrecho de arriba. He hecho la talla 38 que es la que uso siempre con Burda.

I think the model is wearing three sizes bigger than her usual size, because mine are closer fitting on the top part. I made my usual 38.

Claramente, cualquier cosa que remetas en el pantalon se va a notar mucho, siendo la tela tan finita:

Burda 10/2012 #110 El Chaleco Manta. The Blanket Vest

¡Hola guapas!
Acabo de hacer un regalo.¡Que maja soy! Lo malo es que yo quería este chaleco para mí, porque hace mucho frio y necesitaba algo así, pero no va a poder ser, porque no he confiado en Burda....Y esos errores se pagan.

Hello ladies!
I just made a present. But I had no intention to do so. I so wanted this vest for me, it´s cold right now, but I didn´t trust Burda Magazine and I have to pay for my mistake.

Como esto tenía pensado ponerlo con jerseis de cuello alto, más camiseta, más termal, etc pensé que en lugar de hacerme la talla 38 que me hago siempre con Burda, me haría la 40. Pero Burda ya lo había pensado por mí. En resumen: Hay que pensar "a la española" cuando cosas patrones alemanes. 

I thought that I had to wear this with turtel necks and a thermal and what not beneath so I made a size 40 instead of my usual 38. But Burda had thought it for me. To cut the long story short: When sewing with Burda I have to think "a la Spanish" No previsions!

Este patrón me gusta, por que tiene bolsillos, doble botonadura, corte asimétrico y un panel en el lado que facilmente puede tener "efecto adelgazante" si lo haces en una tela de contraste más oscura.
La tela es como un bouclé de lana gordita, muy abrigada. 

I like the pattern though. It´s double-breasted, asymmetric, a side pannel that can be used for "sliming purposes" when made with a contrast (and darker) fabric, and pockets. The fabric is a kind of wool bouclé if such a thing exist.

Ultimamente estoy un poco pesada con los acabados, así que le puse bies a todo. En la revista el chaleco va forrado, pero ya era demasiado. Solo tuve que sacar unas vistas para las sisas

At least the recipient of this present won´t be afraid of showing the finishes as everything has it´s cute bias binding. The magazine asked for lining it, but I didn´t wanted to, so I just had to make a little pattern for the armhole facings

Siento mucho esta chapuza de fotos, pero mi trípode se ha escacharrado, mi fotógrafo está de vacaciones y hace mucho frio para pedir a alguien que me acompañe y me haga unas fotitos, con la que está cayendo.
La próxima será mejor, ¡lo yuro!

I´m so sorry about the quality of the photos. My tripod is missing the most important part, and there seem to be no spare parts on sale. My official fotographer is on holiday so I asked one of my co-workers to take my pic...in a hurry...one minute before the doors opened and hoards of under 10s would take over the place and our attention.
I hope I can bring you something a bit more exciting next time. Actually I´m sure of it. What can be less exciting than a blanket-vest? :D
